All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

Quebec existed before Canada, seperatists there point a distinct cultural heritage and have some arguments about protection of its culture

Alberta was created to make administering the NWT easier and the seperatists there want to pay less taxes, and based on some reporting have fewer brown people around.

In our wife senario what of your wife wanted to divorce you and move in with the neighbor who she thinks will treat her better and will respect her more.
Good thing SEVENTY percent of Albertans thinks Canada treats them just right then.

Time honoured tradition that one.

Thankfully those people might save us all from the separatists stupidity.

There is Canada in a sentence. All provinces are equal, some are just more equal.

Yup, some are granted way more governmental power than they should, even though they drain the govt coffers. Looking at you PEI and New Brunswick with your lowest voter to seat ratios in confederation.

Yes, yes... Embrace the Canadian regionalism disease! Keep going there's more!

Id like to see Alberta stay a part of our confederation. I think we're all stronger together. I can also sympathize with those frustrated with Canada, I am too.

But I think we need to have this referendum. A release valve. Might quiet down the whack jobs on both sides.

I also hope the leave vote is high enough that it scares Canadians into making changes to our electoral system and taking the balance of power away from Ont and Que and evenly distributing it across the country. We're either all in this together, or we're all in this together but under the heel of Ont and Que.

some also try and take more power then they are entitled to, while neglecting the power they already have, Alberta is prime example

I for one cannot wait to see every province throw a hissy fit referendum in order to blackmail the federal government...

I hope they get 30 percent or less and we can all go back to ignoring this fringe group of traitors.

But the separatists try and say their views are main stream......

Meanwhile the views....... what a lovely group of people.

I know you don't care, you live in the centre and are led by a party you largely agree with. So I get it, you're gonna smarmy and smug all over everything that runs counter to you. Remember, nothing lasts forever. I wonder will you disappear the next time things start to wane for the Gov like you did last time ?

From where I sit a form of prop rep would remedy all of this. It means everyone's vote matters and counts, and those running need to work for them all.

That's too high a lift. We'd need the planets and all their moons to align for that. "Decisive defeat" that settles the issue for a decade or more is better.

When people show you who they are, believe them.

Truth is, people don't support this group. They are useful idiots for others to use as a vehicle for their own purposes.

The USA likes them so they can destabilize Canada. A destabilized Canada is easier for them to deal with.

Those like Halifax tar wants them to push along change and reform at the federal level.

Smith wants a laundry list of concessions from ottawa, looking to turn Alberta into her own little fiefdom. And if by chance she pushes too far and Alberta actually seperates, shes a few years removed from becoming a US state, win win for her if they do well.

Others just want to poke a stick in the eye of Ottawa.

Of the 30 percent who say they would vote for Alberta to separate, I think the number of people who actually want Alberta to separate is far lower, because even they can tell they would be run by these incompetent fringe xenophobes
