All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

There won't be any separation. Carney, supposedly, already said he'd invoke the Emergency Act. Likely cancel everyone's vehicle insurance and freeze their bank accounts.

Which makes me wonder if the government's appeal of the last court ruling, is intended to keep the threshold for invoking the Act at a low level. Our new PM appears to like the Act and the power that comes with it. He convinced trudeau to invoke the Act on the convoy and showed freeland how to freeze bank accounts. Now he's threatening to use it again.

Where I come down on the subject is immaterial. I don't see traitors and separatists. I see pissed off and pissed on Canadians who are not allowed to oppose the government mismanagement and downright deceit and having their future determined by an anti oil, net zero government in Ottawa. Canadians exercising their Constitutional rights to Freedom of Expression and being pillored for it. Have the referendum and vote. It will only come down one of two ways. Either it's a flash in the pan and will lose steam, or they will have a favourable return. In which case, it'll be time for carney's clowns to put on some big boy pants and bargain in good faith and in a timely matter, for a change.

I think most politicians would like to have that power. And I don't trust any of them to use it for its purpose or the greater good.

Fact File: No evidence Carney threatened emergency powers against Alberta separatists

Claims that Prime Minister Mark Carney said he would invoke the Emergencies Act to quash Alberta independence appeared online last week. It was said Carney made the comments while addressing steelworkers at a March 29 event in Hamilton, Ont. A video from Hamilton in which Carney is seemingly heard referring to the use of emergency powers in fact uses spliced audio from a campaign event in 2025, where his comments were unrelated to Alberta separatism.

(It seems the rumor may have been started by Jeffrey Rath, a prominent figure in the Alberta separatist movement)

Oh lol, that. Rath says a lot of stuff, I’d forgotten that particular one- he claimed to have been called by a steelworker who was at a PM event; he named the wrong steel plant and company. So just Rath being dishonest. No great shock there.
