What is getting tiresome is people just dismissing the grievances of Albertans who are sick of being f*cked over and lame excuses like Russian influence or some garbage like that. Or simply thinking they want to be the 51st state. Keep ignoring real problems because your tiny corner of the world is hunky dory is naive and foolish. Its like ignoring the funny noise coming from your brakes on your car, until it becomes a major problem.
Its funny how in hind sight everyone seems willing to acknowledge that Trudeau was a freaking disaster for the nation (as Harper predicted), gee, maybe that has something to do with the mood in Alberta?
Add to that Notley wasn't really a big win. Or a win.
Keep ignoring real problems and issues, keep blowing up REAL and no bullshit solutions going forward and I promise you, it won't be just Alberta that wants to bail out, the whole damn nation will shatter.
I say it again and again, as the asshole who calls it out, face the real world, acknowledge it and deal with it.

Then why did Albertans vote for her?
when the NDP won that election my dipshit boss at my last job threw a tantrum claiming we needed to have another election because "nobody voted for the NDP they just voted against the conservatives" I had to explain to him that elections have consequences.

Because globally oil took a dump and they UCP managed to pin that on the NDP while associating them with the federal Liberals, plus promising a bunch of nonsensical policies like sueing the federal government/ refusing the follows laws none of which have worked out and have instead cost Alberta millions. Looking at you Oil and Gas warroom.

Lets not get cocky. The seppies will lie, cheat and attempt to convince Albertans to keep the stay vote at home. They need to get out and vote before we can plan theparade.

See, this is where I'm not worried.
Danielle Smith has slipped the poison pill in this.
If it was a straight up and down vote about Separation, I would be worried a tad about turnout.
It's a 10 question referendum. Even if one thinks the stay side has it in the bag and stays home, maybe they want to vote on immigrant rights, the constitution, the senate.
So i imagine turnout wont be horrible and if its not horrible, the Seppies get rolled.

Most likely they whine and complain and try to bring their case all the way up to the supreme court of the United States.
Maybe overtake the UCP, but that's a civil war I will take out a big vat of popcorn to watch

I wont take violence off the table. These people truly believe theyre oppressed. You and I think thats dumb, but thst doesnt change what they think. The "one man's terrorist [...]" trope. Its something Im hoping the RCMP and province is thinking about.
Alberta has some valid grievances, a number of which are being taken seriously and sectioned by the new government.
Also, the separatists are petulant children.
Both of these are true at once.

I'll believe it when I see it. The crowds i see at these rallies seem to be on the older side, not so many fighting aged males side.
Not saying older people are not capable of violence, but if these crowds were 20-30 year old male dominant I would be a tad bit more concerned.
In the meantime, I will head over to reddit alberta and watch the seppies get clowned on by....well, everyone.
