Yes, there is that. But is that an insurmountable barrier?I would agree on building more JSS if there wasn't a huge CCG order waiting directly behind it....

In 2000, Buck told us there’d be an AOR hull in the water in 5 years.Lack of long lead items, ballooning cost overruns, lengthy delays from the original schedule...
As a Capt(N) posted in as DNR, Ron Lloyd promised that before he was posted out that Steel would be cut for the CSCIn 2000, Buck told us there’d be an AOR hull in the water in 5 years.
Betrayed by auto complete. What did poor Stella ever do to deserve this?
I should clarify. He meant construction would start, not that it would be sailing. In 2000, Buck told us there’d be an AOR hull in the water in 5 years.
I think we need a third for sure. But we can do it like the Germans did. Runthe first two for a while, get the list of fixes/changes and then go for a new build 5-6 years on, aiming to have it in the water for year 10 of JSS1. Then JSS1 could go in for a midlife around year 11, 12.Yes, there is that. But is that an insurmountable barrier?
Some interesting discussions here regarding sealift capability, something Canada might want to definitely look into in the far future? I am unsure if it would be better to have the Navy operated dedicated vessels for this capability or have the Canadian Govt simply buy civilian RORO vessels for military use when required?
If the Canadian Government actually lived in the real world. We would probably be purchasing both. Some interesting discussions here regarding sealift capability, something Canada might want to definitely look into in the far future? If the Canadian government lived in the real world, they'd be panicking about not having enough sailors to operate the ones we are already buying, and the worsening retention rate.If the Canadian Government actually lived in the real world. We would probably be purchasing both.
Trying up the Kingston Class is going to solve all our personnel shortages don't you know.If the Canadian government lived in the real world, they'd be panicking about not having enough sailors to operate the ones we are already buying, and the worsening retention rate.
I think Blair knows. But does Kady know or even care?If the Canadian government lived in the real world, they'd be panicking about not having enough sailors to operate the ones we are already buying, and the worsening retention rate.
Man, those would be the most fun ships in the fleet, with awesome potluck parties. As I said before, start hiring Filipino's. Set up a assessment and training base there, using contractors. Perhaps along with another nation, run them through a selection program sort of like the Gurkhas. They arrive here and start on the Kingston's for final verification. 10 year service buys you guaranteed citizenship.
