no, a real leader would be resolving the problemIf the Canadian government lived in the real world, they'd be panicking about not having enough sailors to operate the ones we are already buying, and the worsening retention rate.

Fortunately Parliament is full of them, so we're good.no, a real leader would be resolving the problem
That's great until one of them dies, or does something stupid. As I said before, start hiring Filipino's. Set up a assessment and training base there, using contractors. Perhaps along with another nation, run them through a selection program sort of like the Gurkhas. They arrive here and start on the Kingston's for final verification. 10 year service buys you guaranteed citizenship.
Why, Canadians die and do stupid things as well? As long as you do your best to treat them like human beings, there will be little real issues. It's not like a significant amount of the worlds fleets don't already use them. In fact I think you find that you have far more applicants than slots. That's great until one of them dies, or does something stupid.
The Gurkhas are a direct result of British imperial colonialism in India. I'm not sure any political leader would throw away their career by creating any program similar to that.
Rather than try to import cheap foreign labour, maybe we could try to fix the issues keeping Canadians away?
XO: Sir, the ship can't sail yet.Man, those would be the most fun ships in the fleet, with awesome potluck parties.
Commercial fleets... This may be a bit of a surprise, but expectations WRT to both conduct, and security clearances are slightly different between a Panamanian flagged cargo ship, and a Canadian warship. Why, Canadians die and do stupid things as well? As for "fixing the issues" , Well good luck with that , there is about 5 other westerns navies that would love to know what the solution is.
Word on the street the CO of Protecteur was out east trying to entice sailors to move West to crew JSS.Waiting to see if JSS1 (Protecteur) gets launched this month, as promised. There seems to be very little in the way of updates available for this program. Perhaps someone familiar with this program can chime in and give us an early Christmas present?
Knowing the CO of Protecteur that's probably true. He's quite a character, and even his teasing is not teasing if you care to listen. I already put my name forward to work on that ship. But I'm a switch hitter already for coasts.Word on the street the CO of Protecteur was out east trying to entice sailors to move West to crew JSS.
I didn't realize the RCN was using Starlink. Not getting many bites apparently although they may end up telling people to go. There's some interesting coastal transfers possibily happening as well. Sitting here on HDW typing this on Starlink.
Yes some ships have it now, all the ships will get it eventually. Way superior to what we are using now.I didn't realize the RCN was using Starlink.
Wasn't there a US CPO charged for illegally installing Starlink on one of their ships?Yes some ships have it now, all the ships will get it eventually. Way superior to what we are using now.
The key word is “illegally”.Wasn't there a US CPO charged for illegally installing Starlink on one of their ships?
But I want it now!The key word is “illegally”.
Follow the procedures; get official blessing and engineering/security oversight and you are fine.
