Armoured Recce: What do they do?

I first heard of the occupation "Armoured Reconnaissance" on this website, and the term has had me intrigued ever since. I was originally planning on being an artillery soldier, but I'd like to learn a little bit about armoured recon. Here are my newbie questions for you guys:
-What do they do? (deployed and in garrison)
-Personal experiences?
-Will I be able to pursue my hobby of weightlifting in armoured recce?
-How dangerous is the job?
