The Russians probably couldn't believe their luck. Once the Germans were close, the Russinns would have started the final offensive, and with Germany overstretched in the West, the Iron Curtain probably would have ended up a the Rhine.
As for the Allies being divided. The infighting between the Americans and British was divisive, but I think the idea of finishing off the Germans was stronger. However, the British (and to a lessor extent the Canadians) were really hurting for replacements, so their ground effort may have been crippled.
Who knows, so many what ifs.
