BMQ and School

As for teachers understanding this kind of situation, yes, some will give exceptions, others will say it's your responsibility to complete homework assigned for the day it's due for, since joining the Army was your choice.   This was the case with my English teacher last year...I had a 3 day hockey tournament which means I missed a Friday on which an essay was due.   I was told that I would have no extension and would have to hand it in a class early.   I know hockey and military aren't the same thing, but my point is some teachers will not make exceptions.

You're right, hockey and the military aren't the same thing... you'll find that you're more likely to get an exception for reserve commitments, and/or work commitments then sport commtments...  mostly because sports *are* an option... if you're in highschool, then you're probably still living with a parent or gaurdian, but there are those that aren't, and if you're in university, then chances are you're paying for your education via the reserves...meaning it *isn't* an option... of course, you still have to accept the fact that you might have to do a little extra work... I've found that my profs are always more then understanding with regards to my work with the reserves... but it doesn't have to mean that they accept a paper late... it means that the same prof who'd usually refuse to accept anything but a pristine piece of paper would accept an assignment somewhat mangled and water damaged (But quite legible) because it was completed by flashlight during firepicket in a blizzard (Done last year for a French class), it means that the prof would be willing to spend time after class helping you to cover some material you missed, etc etc.
