Citizens demand services and refuse to pay to maintain them.Municipal governments seem unaware that the people in their communities don't have unlimited revenue to milk.

Sadly our education system does not put a premium on educating people how a community works and what is necessary and what is optional. Some people have no clue how they get water, electricity to their house and how and where the poop disappears.Citizens demand services and refuse to pay to maintain them.

Eby seems to zeroing in on unchecked immigration as being one of the main causes, in addition to equalization unfairness.
Yesterday he called Carneys cut to TFW a farce and “smoke with mirrors (sic)”, saying the IMP is worse than the TFWP and blaming general federal government apathy+ laziness to bring unneeded and uninvited populations of a size equivalent of a city the size of Surrey every year. Twice he went that direction- saying the Feds are bringing in “hundreds of thousands of unqualified, low skill people who cost the economy far more than they can possibly ever contribute”.
He’s clearly reading and applying Conservative Party BC ideas and conclusions.

Greta would not be pleased. They also demand certain services from the wrong levels of government.
My city has a indigenous coordinator and a environmental coordinator. Both positions shouldn’t exist in my opinion as they are Provincial/Federal responsibilities and have nothing to actually do with running a municipality.
I imagine a lot of cities have similar duplicate efforts which shouldn’t exist. Likely a lot of money could be saved just by eliminating those positions.

The problem wasn't the build, it was the throw-away.To be fair, the fast ferries was a response to the shipbuilding in BC shutting down, we knew we could not compete on traditional hulls.
I watched this speech today... alot of those present wanted to carry him out on their shoulders
