Since this is a British Commonwealth matter, I thought it was best to post this under a British headline. If the Mods seem to think this should be in another forum, please move it, thanks.

Since the Commonwealth list of nations is large, I'll begin with the ABC countries, followed by New Zealand, and since this is going to be an onging thread, I'll keep adding to this as time permits, also if anyone else wants to add to it, that would be of great assistance.

We'll start off with the United Kingdom ......

2. Canada - http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhr-ddhr/chc-tdh/chart-tableau-eng.asp?ref=CD

3. Australia - http://www.itsanhonour.gov.au/honours/awards/medals/defence_long_service_medal.cfm

4. New Zealand- http://medals.nzdf.mil.nz/category/e/e3.html

5. South Africa - http://www.army.mil.za/aboutus/uniform/sandfmedals/medalje_vir_troue_diens.htm

6. India - http://www.medals.org.uk/india/india029.htm

Wiki's list of BCW nations, there's a few

Note that in the UK, long service medals are not awarded to Officers. It's not done for a chap to go on about length of service, eh wot?

Thank you for that, Daftandbarmy. Learn something new every day.  :salute:

"An Officer shall be eligible for award of the LS&GCM if 12 or more of the 15 years service has been in the ranks and provided that the other criteria have been met. An Officer shall be eligible for award of the Clasp if 22 or more of the 30 years service has been in the ranks and provided that the other criteria have been met."

Yes, it's dreadfully awkward to get any sort of respect from all the impoverished subalterns wearing long service medals, after Father purchased you a lieutenant colonel's commission for a 21st birthday present.
