Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Joint Forces Command is up.

Can someone explain A. Why the CF needs yet another HQ, and B. What is the difference between CJFC and CFJOC?

From the Backgrounder.

Why Was the Canadian Joint Forces Command Created
Multiple studies identified gaps in how CAF joint capabilities are generated, developed, managed, and sustained. CJFC addresses these gaps by:

  1. Centralizing leadership and accountability for joint capabilities
  2. Improving coherence and innovation
  3. Supporting interoperability across domains and with allied forces

Lots of people here gave commented too on the lack of integration in the CAF. Well this is part of fixing that.

I think the only thing stopping access here is a giant cheque. If we order in a large enough amount we'll get priority.

But like everything else, now that build in Canada is a priority, you won't see any easy order for made in Europe.

On the plus side there is a lot of opportunity for us to continue with our branch-plant mentality.

It is not just military operations that are being dispersed. Rheinmetall, BAE, Patria and Hanwha aren't building super-factories at home. They are spreading them around across partner countries. Increased good will with jobs and increased resilience - more targets and not all of them will be in reach. Some may even be protected by non-combatant governments.

Creating it is good.

The lack of CSS officers to command it, less so.

That we deselect CSS at Maj by giving them disproportionately fewer spots on JCSP is a systematic failure on the part of the CAF.

Well, it's not like we need that skill all that much in positions of high command, right? ;)
