Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

I'm guessing because he was asked, so he gave the official GoC response...
It is not a question for the CAF. The CAF is not in the chain of command of the Coast Guard. He should have entirely deflected the question as a decision for the government of Canada, not for the CAF.

Then again, the RCN have published their illegal set of ranks for more than half a decade, so subordination to lawful authority apparently isn't part of the NWO Occ Spec.

The statement does bring into question any claims the CCG is part of the 2% target. I’d argue he “meant what he said” and not what he was told he had to say.

He has no lawful authority over the CCG. Why is he speaking on the topic at all?
Because he was being directly asked those questions. He did clarify that there is a "Navy view" and that if the Government says "Do this", then the navy will do so. Not sure where he would get the sailors from to man weapons on CCG/merchant ships AND increase RCN crews for wartime ops?

Very few of the CCG vessels would be useful for operating a containerized self-defense system, unless you preclude any helicopter operations and that would give you roughly a 200 degree arc facing aft. Well deck installation would be severely limited by crane, masts and wheelhouse and would then preclude buoy tending.

Arming large CCG ships with .50cals would be relatively simple and provide a pathway for training the ship officers and management in the concepts of use of force and ROE, using more of a Law enforcement model than a military one. Likely the biggest use would be enforcing fisheries protection.
