Canadian Dismounted Infantry Capability Enhancement (DICE) programme

The system comes with a bunch of different pouches (enough mag pouches to carry more than 6 x mags). They just had their demo system wearing 6 x magazines. Depending on the soldier's role and mission, they can configure the pouches to their liking.

I don’t know, while it’s better than the TacVest, I can’t help but feel that this is still 10-15 years behind where the load bearing equipment is right now, especially plate carriers.

Honestly I would rather we just went with coyote brown vs CADPAT MT. Coyote Brown would allow for use of COTS pouches. Going MT will just mean that there won’t be any COTS options that maintain a consistent color pattern.

The yoke is pictured I believe. Belt kit is good for dismounted ops, jungle etc. For anything involving vehicles it’s not great.
I can say at least on the 3RCR side of the house, multicam blends in just fine with MT (and the previous J-pat) so much so a lot of guys had multicam windshirts, puffys, and rain gear and no one cared too much. The plate carrier is actually a 1-for-1 copy of the OG Aussie TBAS (their later generations of it are very nice, obviously we elected not to pursue that design).

Belt kits work fine in most military pattern vehicles, a fallacy that for some reason is still perpetuated, and even in civilian pattern vehicles it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

looks like double mag pouches, good start but i hope 6 mags isn't the new standard, in my opinion it should be more then that, atleast for the infantry types. As a tech? sure that works for me. The ruck sack looks like an improvement over the CTS in terms of layout, hope being a commercial design the ergonomics are a lot better as well.

The DICE bergan is absolute trash: too tall, full length zippers that will fail in the arctic or cold weather environments, a poorly designed floating lid that will not allow you to stow missiles (ATGMs are back on the menu) or a SRAAW-M under it easily or effectively. Also, no external pass throughs for skis or ski poles which is fucking wild for an army that's trying to retool for arctic warfare.

Having run belt kits in LAVs, Humvees, G Wagons, various civ pattern stuff I have to disagree, it’s not ideal and there are better options.
There is a difference as well between running a minimal gun belt and a full up belt kit while mounted.

Each to their own, I suppose.

Wasn’t the Aussie TBAS V1 developed in the 2009 timeframe?
This seems to be that V1 version?

DICE program should have a Kevlar cape that soldiers can take off and use as a blast blanket when riding ATVs, MRAZRs, and so on.

I haven't tried one of these but I bet its comfortable.

Kind of nuts to think the Australian soldier has more or less been equipped like this for the better part of a decade if not longer.

So the CA modernizing in 2025 looks like adopting a 2009 vintage Gen 1 product when the force initially deploying the product is on its 5th generation.
Excuse me while I either laugh or cry. I don’t know which is more appropriate. 😂
Honestly it doesn't friggin matter what Gen it is. Does it work the way you need it to? Yes or no.

And if I've learned anything on these boards since 2007, when it comes to load carrying, rucksacks and boots NOTHING is ever good enough for the army. Always something to bitch about because it doesn't do X, Y, Z the way I want it to.

We'll just have to make sure the Navy's next set of firefighting equipment comes from the 80s for the RCDs. All things being equal.

The current stuff does the job, is used by fire fighting organizations in Canada, and I feel safe.
The old stuff did not do any of those things.

This new load carriage system looks like it will do all the jobs asked of it, better than the old stuff.

I wouldn’t want to give any opinion on what ship fires need.

Honestly it’s a pretty big fail given the amount of time that is has been worked on.

The TacVest was a travesty that the design was so unergonomic that it did have the potential to get troops killed in a TIC.

This just looks like a program that stopped halfway though and decided to deliver and unfinished product.

Glass half full: I don't see any pockets designed for FN Mags.... yet ;)

What else will fit in there after you jam your arctic sleeping system in, I wonder...

At least the 64 pattern valise was bottomless ;)

So we should keep using the tac vest for another 20 years, got it.

What piece of load carriage kit, rucksack, or boots do you think is good enough that the army is unfairly bitching about?
