Canadian Dismounted Infantry Capability Enhancement (DICE) programme

I’ll add that I get frustrated specifically on this issue because the only reason it hasn’t been addressed is because we decided it’s acceptable to have members shell out their own money to solve it. I don’t think that a Pte / Cpl (or Lt or Captain) who gets a radio should have to shell out their own money to be able to securely carry it in their person. Which is the case now.

That's what guntape is for.

Because you point is lost in the tone of you comment. There also critical shortages with the tac vest that have never been addressed. The frag grenades not fitting and the lack of an IFAK, those are real problems and not “personal preference” or idle complaints to be ignored.

And then there are gaffs like the new sleeping bag disaster.

Not exactly NASAMS level on the cost curve, but can take people out as surely as a bullet...

Canadian Army says new military sleeping bags not suitable for 'typical Canadian winter'

'I wonder if they should have just gone to Canadian Tire,' says defence expert

Should have just bought Snugpak bags.

Bags for the jungle, desert, and arctic.

Also some nice bivy bags, hammocks, shelter tarps, sleeping bag liners, and individual tents.
The key is to also understanding that most trades and even line serials inside certain trades have different requirements.

The Ligth Infantry role has different requirements than LAV based Infantry - who have different requirements than the Leo2 crews, who have different requirements than the Gunners, - and the gunner trade has many different requirements due to gun line (towed or SPA) or FOO (Light or LAV) etc.
Of course its easier just to try to jam everyone in a arctic tent...

But snarky and sarcastic comments aside - for years there haven't been proper solutions to a variety of REQUIREMENTS.
7.62mm belt carriage for dismounted use? I mean that isn't an unknown issue - the whole just carry the metal can isn't an appropriate answer.
The C6 got fielded to the Infantry in what 1986 ish?, I know Gagetown had them in 1988 at the School.
It is 40 years...
Not exactly sure how this issue wasn't ever addressed - outside of Troops buying their own bags/pouches.

Agreed. That's why I like the kit ordering and multiple options system that SOCEM will hopefully entail. The troops are (mostly) adults, let them pick the kit appropriate for their trade.

Addressed i believe. We just got a bunch at my reserve armoured unit, so if we have those clip-on 7.62 belt holders, I imagine they've been through the system for years. You're talking stuff similar to the M240B nutsack pouch right?

I think the concept can work - but needs to be greatly expanded past just personal kit.

I was actually talking about a dedicated bag for the gunner or Assistant Gunner.
The 240 Teaser belt sack is better than nothing to hold a teaser belt for dismounted work - but its not really quiet either.

Ah - tracking. Misunderstood.
No worries I was fairly vague

I spent a few hours trying to find the setups I used for the C6, as well as Mk48 and Hk21 ammo storage.
But apparently I don't know how to upload or properly file pictures as I couldn't find any of them.

Gonna toss something in here:

As long as you have people that state "everyone must look the same and carry the same kit" you will never solve the issue.

Stuff it down the front of your smock until it's 'Go time' ;)

For Canadians the SSF smock was never a useful smock for that - and body armor sort of makes the stuffing for the last 4 decades a bit of a non existent thing.

Meanwhile this guy is totally overkill
