Hello,

Does the Canadian Army or any other CF have a special rallying call used to motivate troops? The US Army has "Hoaah", while the US Marine Corps has "O-RAH". The US Navy Seals say "Hoo-Yah" as well.

Being an outsider, I'm not too familar with the CF's internal culture, so I'm not sure what sort of rallying cry they'd have. Or do individual units, such as the Princess Patz and the Queen's Own, have their rallying cries? Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you for real?????

I had always thought there was no such thing as a stupid question until now.

You guys have all got it wrong.  As the snow begins to melt, and all young Canadian Soldiers start to put away all their Arctic Kit, that grand Patron Saint of the Canadian Forces reinvigorates their moral with that famous chant......."Roll Up the Rim!"

AND QUOTING MR. AESOP

Been discussed already :

LISTEN TO ME YOU PRESUMPTOUS JERKS. I AM JUST ASKING A QUESTION! BTW, MR. AESOP, THERE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE NEW MEMBERS HERE ASKING A QUESTION. DON'T GIVE ME THAT CONSERVATIVE "HELP YOURSELF, DO IT YOURSELF" SCREW OTHER PEOPLE ATTITUDE.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS  A STUPID QUESTION. PEOPLE WHO COME TO THIS FORUM SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH SUCH BELLIGERENCE!

By recceguy: Your new. I'll cut you some slack. That's your freebie. Read and heed the guidelines. Things will be much easier.

"But there are a god awful lot of inquisitive idiots out there... " ;D

Not a jab at you Capt, just an add on to the old saying.    ;)

Whoa, dude, what's with all the hostility?  You're really harshing my mellow, man.  Your antagonistic tone deeply offends my Canadian Peacekeeper mindset.  Need a cookie?  A blankie, perhaps?  Need a new school playground in your neighbourhood maybe?  Chillax, man.

FYI - Typing in caps indicates that you are shouting/yelling at us - please don't do that.

Besides, I always thought our CF-wide mantra was to yell "Buget-cut, Budget-cut" in place of blank ammunition.

Whoa, take a chill pill dude. Tell us a little about yourself so we can relate to the cultural gap. Right now you sound like some caffeine slogged cadet, somewhere offshore. Give us a bit of a break and give us a reason for responding to a subject that's been covered here before, before I tell you to do a 'Search'. Reading the Guidelines will probably help you as will spending some time here reading, before posting.

BTW my poor ignorant (as in not knowing - defined in the dictionary) friend, "HOUA", the American term, isn't actually a rallying cry.... It's just portrayed as such in the movies... It's kind of a motivator I suppose at best, but it actually means this - "HEARD ORDERS, UNDERSTAND ACKNOWLEDGE"... In short form... Basically it means, "Yeah Sarge, I understand it's my turn to mop the floor in the mess hall this time... I did puke all over it...."

.....

Last time battle/rallying cries were actually used in battle was probably what? World war 1??? If even then??? Bugles/trumpets anyone??? There are quite a few historian types on this website who probably know... I remember watching on TV or reading somewhere that there was actually a regiment of musicians who followed troops into battle and never stopped playing music, never stopped, if one guy fell, the other would pick up his instrument and keep on playing... Can't remember details about it...

It's all about moral in battle I suppose. Problem is I especially don't know seeing as I've not been in battle!

:salute:

On my Basic I found the Rally cry of "oh my F**ing God Troops.... I swear if you DONT START MOVING... I WILL FIND A WAY TO MOTIVATE YOU!"

always started off kinda quiet and grew until he was shouting.... this was also comming from a MCpl who looked like he bench pressed Buicks in his spare time.. (Last time i saw him he was part of the RCMP TRU Team. out of toronto... and he moved from Buicks to H2's)

cheers
- josh

Ha ha all of this is great.....our new poster needs to grab a sense of humour. I always thought the rallying cry was around APS (annual or active posting season) when asked to do a tasking...."FIGMO"  (F--k It Got My Orders!)>  :salute:

Posting Slump...` ;D

BTW - HUA comes from Heard, Understood, Acknowledged - typically 75th RR
-- if you ask a stupid question expect sarcasim in return, and you did not even get your stuoid question correct.

Rallying Cry that is music to my ears:

"We're doing a Timmies run, want something?"

I think we're done here.

The answer is: "No."
