Changing coasts.

Will be finishing up my first contract (4 years) And I am not liking this coast (East coast). Is it possible to bargain with whomever about moving to the West coast for my next posting if I sign a 21 year contract?

However, think first and hard before you sign up again:

What is it you don't like about the east coast?  Is it the way the "East-coast" Navy does things? Then you wont like the West-coast any better and perhaps being a seaman is not for you (not the end of the world BTW).

Or is it the living in the Halifax area that you dont like? Then it would be OK to switch coast, which at this point of your carreer as a NCM should still be possible without too much difficulty.

Yes, I don't like Halifax as I thought I would and I miss Victoria.

Anything is possible if you use the divisional system correctly and get the CM onboard.

For most of the Naval trades, you are not assigned an HPD until you are completely QL5 qualified. This varies from trade to trade but best to ask the advice through your divisional chain to the CM. I do know that there are personnel shortages on both coasts with each claiming to be worse than the other.  This all means that you will likely 'go where needed' until QL5 qualified at which time you can request an HPD (no guarantee of getting it right away)
