you are not alone. Carney is putting federal money into buying up condos but the vast majority of people want a yard, a garage, a modern kitchen and a bungalow style even if it is a rowhouse. The yard was the most sought after item which doesn't come as a surprise to me at all at 81%. Those numbers are from realestate101, an on-line course.

I blame the cities more then the feds when it comes to condos etc, developers are pushing as much into current zoning laws as they can fit to maximize profit. Some condo fees are down right extortion which frankly needs oversight. My condo fees should equal another mortgage payment and not provide any major benefits

Condo fees are initially set by the developer and artificially low. Once they exit, there are years of underfunding to the reserve fund that need to be addressed, plus they cheaped out on the original construction, so systems fail early.
