the defense minister isn‘t going to set policies though, hes going to say "Our military is capable of this while it is uncapable of these other things."
I think i brought up this point before . We were having a chat with a visiting general and he was telling us how much the CF was retaining it‘s soldiers, moral was really high and theres hardly any OT‘s going on and some people spoke up and said "Sir your wrong we have a LOT of OT‘s in the battalions and people are getting out way faster then they are getting in" and the general just looked at the sergeant like he was a 10 year old telling a lie, smiled and said he was just wrong. Everyone was shocked. The moral of the story is that if a general has no clue of the state of one of the 3 infantry battalions in the CF how will a defense minister with NO military experence have any idea whats going on in the military, who probably relies on those very generals for his information.
