Difference between Mech and light bns

Light Infantry:
Source: Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Regimental Manual

Although the Regiment bears the name "Light Infantry", it has never dressed in the traditional light infantry manner nor has it been employed as light infantry. The designation was chosen by the Founder to reflect the"irregular force" of his original idea, and succinctly captured the traditional philosophy of light troops, that of the "fighting ,thinking soldier", epitomized by the original members and carried on by the Regiment ever since. The tangible connection with light infantry traditions rests solely with the "bugle horn" collar badges and certain rifle green appointments used and worn from time to time. (1-1)

The above quote was from my manual issued to me in the dino days when changing from light to mech meant screaming at the top of our lungs "truckicky truckicky to trackicky ,trackicky. Sort of envied the 1st and 2nd with their nice shining tracks. But as mentioned in some of the preceding posts in those old army days our bn role and training was different than the other two mech bn's. I think in somewhat keeping with the Founder's ideal of "irregualr forces"
