Digital Cameras....which one is best?

A good Photo Editing program to correct some of the photos you take; change the size, crop, edit for the Web, change format, etc.

George, I'm a big fan of Photoshop CS...  Which do you use?

Pieman, if you're reading, what that 3D rendering program we've used?

I've been using PhotoShop 5 and PhotoShop 6.  I just bought Microsoft's Digital Image Suite so I could 'stitch' photos together to make panoramic shots.  I also have Corel Photo House, that I rarely use.  Ulead Photo Explorer 6 and PhotoImpact 5 Bundled Edition came as a bundle with one of my scanners.  HP also bundles software with their cameras; like any digital camera on the market.  Usually if there is a video capability, you will also find some sort of video editing software included with the camera.  Any software bundled with the camera will be relatively basic, so you may want to go and purchase something more high end.  That way you may be able to salvage some photos that were "not so good".

Geesh....ask a simple question  ;D

Thanks for the info guys.....very useful indeed.

I'm not in the market for an SLR model....I don't have that kind of cash for lenses and all the other goodies that go with it.

So far I've researched a bit on the Cannon powershot models and Sony, a wee bit on HP.

Thanks for the leads and the PMs.....keep them coming.

Regards

BTW George.....I'll be in A sqn hanger this morning.

Yep....and in a few minutes I'll be off until Monday....then the ex    ::)

As for the cameras... I've been looking at the deals at Best Buy.

I'm starting to lean towards this:

Anyone deal with Best Buy?

Regards

Decent camera for sure, and Best Buy are OK to deal with.   Sony does use memory sticks, though. These are quite pricey if you buy them OEM Sony . One question I would ask is what the actual shutter lag time is, at highest resolution and what the actual file size is at highest resolution. If the lag time/response time is ~1 second or less you should be OK.

I bought a laptop from Best Buy in December '04. Apparently the Salespeople don't work on commission, so not a lot of pressure to hook you. One thing I do remember is that   they push the extended warranties a bit.

Try this link: http://www.blackphotostore.com/english/proddetail.asp?sku=6735  $330.00
