I only post it here in the Canadian Politics section because the NDP's new leader seems to have chosen this as his first issue to fight back against.

(And I have to say, I don't think it's a poor choice on his part.)

That's a pretty good issue for the NDP to take on, actually. I'm on side with it. Big-data informed 'dynamic pricing' in things like groceries is definitely right on the horizon and economists have been flagging this as imminent for a few years now. Very few in the electorate are likely to look at this and say 'yeah that would be a good thing for Canadians'. Probably every party would be able to come up with internally coherent arguments against it.

Also an easy one for the government to look at and say 'yup, we agree', legislate it and pull the wind right out of NDP's sails.
 
The NDP will take the issue over and demand dynamic pricing be used to increase prices for customers profiled as having higher incomes, and to decrease prices for those profiled as having lower incomes.
