Ebola: outbreak, Canadian/other response (merged)

Necrothread (no pun intended) bumped with the latest round ....

And if you're interested in tracking the Ebola thing writ large ....

And...... the Canadian-developed vaccine is apparently not effective on this variant.

Looks like this one flew under the radar for quite a while and the world’s playing catch up on an already very large outbreak that’s made it to a few cities… No bueno.

Arguably a ‘good’ thing about Ebola is it burns so hot and fast that it scares the shit out of populations and they generally play ball… Precautions work and are taken seriously by those with awareness. But it’s an agonizing way to go, and the case fatality ration for this strain is something like 40%. Bad news bears.

US-bound Air France flight diverted to Montreal.

Apparently an asymptomatic passenger was from a country currently banned by the US.

I heard a passenger interviewed on the radio who said they wouldn't say why they were diverting but all of a sudden the crew were wearing masks. 'Nothing to see here - everything's fine.'
Why are we allowing planes bound for the US to land that are banned.
Seems like America is using Canada once again. They need us for nothing other then a buffer zone for safety.
This plane should have been refused landing in Canada. Let the US figure their own problems out.
