Hello. My name is Mike and I recently wrote my C-FAT testing in Ottawa, Ontario. Unfortunately I was unable to proceed into the trade I wanted to move in to, luckily this was my first time writing the test. When speaking to the recruiter he said I did not have a lot of things to offer for the field I wish to move into ( which was  Naval Electronic Systems Operator). My question today is what kind of education would they be looking for in such a trade? I know I should have asked him at the time but it did not cross my head.

I have a college education in Police Foundations and also my high school diploma. Ultimately I have thought about taking a 1 year electronics course to help boost my resume. I was just wondering on what my next step might be and if there is a certain course I should take to help improve my resume.

Another question I have regards the acceptance of your trade. I was able to pass the combat arms and make artillery but I chose to come back at a later date and re-write the test, in hopes to make navy.  If I was still unable to make the navy the second time I write the test would I be able to say okay and accept combat arms( artillery)?  or could they shut me down.

Thanks very much, I appreciate any help and comments(  polite and benefiting criticism is welcomed as well)

The minimum for this particular trade is Grade 10

This has been covered numerous times in the various threads about rewriting the CFAT.

If that's still the case (I had understood that the recruiting standard was increased to High School diploma minimum for all Reg F trades), then just to clarify: you don't stand a chance of getting recruited off the street into that trade with Grade 10.

Call the Recruiter back and ask.

Your are confusing what is the standard vs what is competitive.  The standard for most trades is still grade 10, will you be competitive highly unlikely.  Also when the recruiter (more likely the Military Career Counselor), told you the results of your CFAT,  when they said you need to upgrade your education, they more than likely were referring to the fact that in order for CFAT rewrite waiver to be granted, generally you need to prove that you have done something to improve whatever area you were lacking in.  Either they didn't explain that very well, or you misinterpreted what they meant, either case, you need to seek clarification from them.
