End of an era at Cracker Barrel

Not to Canadians who only see that brand name in a cheesy light (me, too). A certain caste of U.S. conservative, though, seems to see it as another example of surrender to the forces of woke.

Similar to Chick-Fil-A with their wearing of the owner's conservative Christian beliefs on their sleeve.

I used to be a fairly regular PB ( Pickle Barrel) enjoyer.

Better than CB , in my non-expert opinion.

I see images like that and am reminded why people in parts of the US look like they do. I've been into a place (non-chain) called Tony's I-75 in Birch Run Michigan. They go through 11,000 lb of bacon a week. I couldn't eat portions like they serve if I just crawled in from the desert.

Chick filet moves north of the border and is targeted by protestors. This issue isnt going away as 15 restraunts are gonna be built in Toronto. They have an excellant product and strong family values [ they are closed on Sundays].

My European relatives who've visited the U.S. have also commented on their general approach to serving sizes, too. There's a reason there's memes out there suggesting some Americans eat like they have free health care.

I wouldn't be able to finish those, either, but leftovers from that bacon butty would make a few good meals in the doggie bag.

Meh I used to be a fairly regular CB enjoyer However the quality of food in the last 3 years has tanked ...

That sounds more like head office looking for ways to get cheaper to run, and sticking with stuff that's sub-optimal.

My European relatives who've visited the U.S. have also commented on their general approach to serving sizes, too. There's a reason there's memes out there suggesting some Americans eat like they have free health care.

I wouldn't be able to finish those, either, but leftovers from that bacon butty would make a few good meals in the doggie bag.

We've been there a couple of times on bike trips. There 'typical' bacon-n-eggs breakfast was generous but not outrageous, but one of the guys ordered a side order of bacon, thinking if would be 4 or 5 rashers. It was a pound.

I'm not that well travelled but have been told that 'generous' servings, at least to this type of degree, is not universal across the US.

Honestly I think it’s more that the standards across the franchises aren’t been checked. Some of the CB’s are still very good, but it is no longer a reliable place at several.
From slower and poorer (and sometimes downright rude) service, to burned or cool and dried out biscuits and other foods that are no longer a reliable option.

Frankly COVID really took a bite out of the food industry, service declined and food quality dropped dramatically across nearly all restaurants, outside of dedicated family owned one of’s, or high end expensive places (and some of those tanked too). It’s like everything went into decline and no one had fixed it.
