Most of the manufacturers are suffering because politicians pushed too hard, too fast. The US "uniparty" will probably try and take Tesla down [a notch] even if Tesla isn't included in that, because of Musk's political advocacy. Meanwhile, they'll demand more EVs.

STOCKHOLM/GDANSK, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Northvolt's financial collapse deals a blow to Europe's plan to set up its own battery industry to power electric cars, stirring a debate about whether it needs to do more to attract investment as startups struggle to catch up with Chinese rivals.
Europe's biggest hope for an electric vehicle battery champion filed for U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Thursday after talks with investors and creditors including Volkswagen and Goldman Sachs for funding failed.

The Swedish company, whose motto is "make oil history", has received more than $10 billion in equity, debt and public financing since its 2016 start-up. Volkswagen and Goldman Sachs each own about one fifth of its shares.
Northvolt said on Friday it needed $1.0-$1.2 billion in new funds under the restructuring process, which it hopes will end by the end of March.
In recent months, it has shrunk the business and cut jobs in a bid to shore up its finances. But it has struggled to produce sufficient volumes of high-quality batteries, and lost a 2 billion euro ($2.1 billion) contract from BMW (BMWG.DE), opens new tab in J

Top Chinese EV maker Nio has released its second-generation battery-swap station, which can automatically change an electric vehicle's battery pack. The service has been welcomed by customers. Nio has completed more than 800 battery-swap stations in China as of February 2022 and it plans to build a total of 1300 by the end of 2022. Many other EV and battery makers in China have begun building battery-swap stations.

That’s actually a solid concept to address the long charge times with current EV batteries.
 
Interesting concept, although no mention of cost.. A little over 300 swaps per day isn't bad but a vehicle volume at any kind of profitable level would require a fair number of stations. Also, I wonder about the continual breaking/making of high voltage connections.

Yes, and would take true commitment government and industry to support that mode of making EVs far more effective. (Canada has made no moves whatsoever to support this aspect of EV uptake)

Not switched under load, isn’t a problem if the connectors are properly made. Not much difference than boats or airplanes getting hooked to high power shore power/GPUs.

Properly made is always the rub in something that is as mass produced as automobiles. Under a vehicle is also a fairly nasty environment is a lot of climates.

Which is a factor that the EV crowd have to figure out so that it is no more problem than for the gasoline and diesel on and off-road users.
