Guys new to the board and not sure if this belongs here (please move if required).

Has any consideration been given within the CF to recruit from the street i.e Direct entry or take qualified SOF from say other Commonwealth forces in an effort to help with the growth of CANSOFCOM ?

You need at least two years in the CF to be able to apply. This is on the boards in numerous places I'm sure. Do a search.

He asked if this has every been considered, not what the requirements are.  It is called thought provoking.

I'll pay more attention next time, or I'll stop trying to read threads so early in the morning.  :-[

It may be on the boards in numerous places but that does not make this statement any more correct.

Citizenship waivers etc can be and are granted, nuff said.

Mate, Thanks for the link ........... guess there is hope for old soldiers who still think they have something to offer. Maybe a change is as good as a holiday  :salute:

There is no direct entry for Civilians but reservists can apply to either organization.  Both units have Class B and C types. There have been, apparently, a number of Foreign SOF members who have seen some service but it isn't clear if this was as a CF mbr, a secondment or merely a long look exchange.  A quick call to their recruiting office will answer the questions you have...  This is the link http://www.cansofcom.forces.gc.ca/en/recruiting_e.asp

There are 3 pages worth of discussion about direct entries, 7 threads down from this one.
