I'm in the process of joining the infantry and my recruiter gave me a phone number to get a Canadian equivalency for my U.S. high school transcript.  Is this really necessary?  I called the place (WES) he recommended and they said it's going to cost $150.  Really?!  Is there no way around this?  Money is a bit tight right now... and nooooo... this is not the reason I'm joining.  I'm from Mississauga, Ontario.

Go back to the recruiter and ask him to send the transcripts to his UPSO to determine if the US education meets the requirement for Infantry which is Grade 10.

Thanks!  That's one problem solved... now if I can only do my 2.4 in under 10... I'll be good to go.  :threat:

help!  ok... earlier i was advised by kincanucks to have the army recruiter send my u.s. high school transcript to his UPSO to save me $150 from having a private firm (WES) do it for me.  however, my recruiter told me that the UPSO doesn't do high school transcripts.  is this true or my recruiter is just being lazy?  any advice?  my money situation is real tight right now and i'm hoping that there is another way to do this.  thanks.

now this is interesting... i'm just browsing through some of the posts and read that kincanucks is a recruiter himself... sorry i'm a newbie here.  so what he told me about having my recruiter send my high school transcript to his UPSO is or should be correct.  why would my recruiter say otherwise?   ???  anyone?... kincanucks if you can help me with this please.  thanks.

This is what I said:

I didn't say anything about getting the UPSO to do a Canadian equivalency for your U.S. high school transcript.

my recruiter told me that the UPSO doesn't do high school transcripts

The UPSO doesn't have to do anything to the freaking transcript all he has to do is review it to determine if it is suitable for meeting the educational requirement to join the freaking infantry.  Go back to the CFRC/D and ask to speak to an officer then ask that officer why your US transcripts can't be sent to the UPSO for review to determine if they are suitable for meeting the educational requirement to join the infantry.

lol.  i apologize for misquoting and didn't really mean to frustrate you.  just a little confused.  thanks for the advice.

ok.  an update.  i just spoke to the SGT (not mentioning any names) and he spoke to his superior and said that there is definitely no way around it.  according to them, the UPSO only reviews CANADIAN documentations.

to kincanucks... is there something you know that they don't?  the SGT is asking for a contact name because he can't think of any way to do it.  if possible... i can PM you his recruiting stn info or yours to his.  if not, what can i tell him or is he right after all?

aha!  i just got a message from the SGT and he said that they are looking into it further and are sending my transcript to toronto for review.  they'll advise me soon if i really need the private evaluation or not.  thanks kincanucks!  :threat:
