Toronto has maybe a third of the GTA population. I proposed an infrastructure project that provides a service to the entire population and also serves the rest of Southern Ontario. How is that a hate fest. I have lived with a well-developed rail system and it doesn't start with a point to point service: it provides a way for all to access it and we do not, repeat for emphasis, do not have the infrastructure in place to fulfill the dreams of your professionals. And your figures are bullshit. You are always accusing others of shoddy or negligent research so here is a clipping saying otherwise.
There are over 167 flights every week between Toronto and Montreal, which averages to about 24 flights per day operated by various airlines.

I don't think those that oppose or question the construction of an HSR have a hate fest for your movers and shakers but rather are questioning to cost/benefits of it all. All construction starts with planning and is followed by the installation of a solid foundation before any of those beautiful facades that are visible to the public are installed. HSR is all about a beautiful facade: it lacks the foundation for growth.
