How should I proceed?

Hello,

I just finished my cfat this morning and received the below email 2 hours later.

"This letter is to inform you that although you were successful achieved a competitive score on your aptitude test, none of the occupations you have selected are open at this time. Please check in with us in the new-year to see if your desired occupation opens in the new year at which time we will re-open your application if you wish."

My first choice is Logistics officer, second choice is MARS. So does that mean my results are good enough that they will proceed with the application once LogO/MARS have openings? Is receiving this letter normal?

Also meanwhile should I just wait or should I ask if its possible to do the medical and interview before there are any openings next year?

Thank you

the only thing u can do here his .. pick up new trades or just wait until April 2015 ( New Fiscal year  ) cause they've probably  already filled all the spot for this year .

Do not pick new trades for the sake of getting in faster. Pick something you want to do and will be happy with doing for 10-20 years. Applying to the CF takes 6 months to over 3 years. If you want it badly you will wait.

It is possible to have your medical and interview before the next fiscal year(Apr 2015), as they like to have people ready for when new spots open up  in 2015. So be patient, work, workout and keep checking in every 3-4 weeks to ensure your file stays active.

Before I answer your question, I have to ask.  Is this the actual content of the email you received?  Copied and pasted verbatum?

If it is, I'd respond back and say "I received your email but due to your bad grammar, I don't understand just what you are telling me!"

So much for standards.........

u said i was missleading him because i said he can switch trades ( by that i mean if he have some interest for others trade not that he should do it to get quicker in .. ill be more specific next time didnt know people cant presume by themself without bein specific on  that point.) he was asking for his options ... ... and after that u go say the same thing but in other words.....

You said pick a new trade or wait. I got that much. Saying pick a new trade is a very broad statement that sounds like you are telling him to pick a different route so he can get in faster.

Waiting till April 2015 is also not wise because they will get flooded at that time with new applications from people waiting for things to open up. What I said to the OP was to keep checking in with his file so that he can finish his process prior to FY 2015. Why? Because the recruiting forecast is usually released before and recruiting centers like to have people in the process, so that once those spots open they can quickly fill them.

I understand that French is your native tongue, but your spelling and typing, grammar and punctuation are atrocious.

Do not pick trades just to get in. Period. No one should advise this. Pick a trade you are going to be happy with. In short, what you want.

I say this knowing from hard fought experience that priorities and desires change over time. How much more would it suck to experience these shifts while stuck in a job you hate because you chose it "just to get in". I think it would suck big time. In fact, we have had people come here and confirm it for us.

And if you want people to understand you on an internet forum then be clear. We have guidelines about spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. for some very good reasons. It's a shame that some are too lazy or ignorant to abide by them, then get upset when they cannot be understood by the membership.

At this time of the year, that sort of response is the norm.  If you want Log O or MARS, your best option is to contact your CFRC again around the 2nd week of Jan 15 and ask if your occupation choices have "re-opened" yet.  Until they re-open, you will not be processed any further.
