Hello Everyone:

Can ID discs be worn at all times(even with civilian clothing)or only when in uniform?

Interesting question... DS on basic courses instruct their recruits to wear it 24/7 no matter what, but according to the legalese (can‘t remember if its a CFAO or a DAOD, prob a CFAO) they are supposed to be held by the Units for deployments/ex‘s.. of course that doesn‘t happen.

You only really have to wear them on tour or in the field. The UNIT DOES NOT HOLD THEM! Who ever told you that one is out to lunch.

If you get hit by a bus on your way home from work or school, it couldn‘t hurt to have a tag with your blood type on it. Worst case scenario is somebody looks around your neck for a medic alert tag and finds your ID tag instead and gives you the proper transfusion. Best case scenario, of course, is not getting hit by the bus at all.

If you think you‘re impressing the girls, though, you‘re wrong. :o

If you want to choke yourself, wear it to bed, too!

I don‘t think anybody would honestly give a rat‘s *** one way or another, frankly.

Everyone has a differant opinion on this; the one I trust is the one my SSM told us at the start of the year, that being, never take them off. I‘ll start wearing mine again though, as Micheal said, it may not impress the ladies, but it is probably good to have your blood type on you.

CFAO 26-4 : IDENTITY DISCSWEARING7. Identity discs shall be retained by members at all times and worn
around the neck and next to the skin:
a. by members serving on active duty, at sea, or beyond the North
American continent, or engaged in flying duties, or on a military
exercise involving travel by Service aircraft; and

b. by other members when directed by the commander of a command.

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, YOU MUST WEAR YOUR ID DISCS WHEN ON OPERATION OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA OR WHEN FLYING IN A SERVICE AIRCRAFT.

Sorry for the poor cut and paste job... Stupid baseline computers won‘t allow cookies, so I can‘t edit my post.

Is that what I said. CFL, I can tell your SSM was a Res. Because most regs don‘t even wear them on tour. **** I didn‘t have a pr for Somalia.

Tags... I rarely even wear mine. I WILL wear them while I am traveling, however, once I am at the "worksite", they are in my inside velcro pocket (safety reasons). I never leave them at home, I may not have my wallet, but I have my tags.

Speaking of tags... what is with the over six inches of para cord on the chain that most people wear. I was told, a long time ago, that six inches of cord was the max to cover the chain. This would still allow thw chain to break if needed. Over six inches, would prevent the chain from breaking.... causing a hanging.

Wear them, Don‘t wear them, who cares! Just have them!!!

:cdn:

I‘d wear mine all the time..

Would never take em off..

When I was a kid, I had some tags that I wore all the time hehe
