Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

The latest CANFORGEN with the GOFO appointments is interesting.
1st Canadian Division ( the new regular force manoeuvre Div) will have a MGen and two BGens.
2nd Canadian Division ( the reserve Division) will have a single BGen.

That is not correct. 2nd Division will have the same structure as well. The Comd will be a MGen in time.

Umm, makee workee?

It follows allied practice for operational divisions (a game to which we are fairly new to). The UK does this, and US Divisions now have 3x DCGs. I'm not justifying the concept, only pointing out that we are not just making stuff up.

2 div also has a couple BGen regional advisors as well, I saw one for west and central, dont know if i saw one for the east

If the Army is taking back the 1st Division name, then what’s the CJOC formation headquarters in Kingston called? Is it going back to Canadian Forces Joint Headquarters? Or is the Canadian Army taking on the Deployable JTF/NCE task along with the name?

That doesn't answer the question.

I don't no how it doesn't answer the question. The Comd and DComds of the divisions are full-time in their respective HQs, posted to the area. There will not be "ARes DComds" who do remote Class A days.

Not sure of the new name. It (and some of its tasks) will remain as a deployable C2 element for CJOC.

That’s what I was tracking as well and that may still be a plan but it’s interesting that the Army has not decided to make the incoming Comd of 2nd Div a MGen. BGen Harvey is remaining as a BGen as per CANFORGEN 85/26.

I am curious why if the structure was calling for a MGen? No DCGs for 2XX have yet been publicly announced either as far as I am aware.

The Army does not control the establishment of the CAF. If the Army was unable to justify their proposed structure to the VCDS (responsible for the CAF establishment) then the extant 2 Div Comd position would be recycled.
