It wasn’t DASHes. CASA (Airbus) C-295 Persuader, apparently USAF has a half dozen for stuff like this. Confusingly (for us) they’re in their 427 Special Operations Squadron. But yeah, the fact that European built aircraft eventually pulled them out is worth a chuckle given current tensions.

I’ll be curious to hear if the ‘stuck in sand’ account holds up or if the aircraft at the FARP were damaged by ground fire.
Regardless of the fine details and the equipment losses, incredible work put in to recover their people. BZ to everyone involved.

Does this mean his 48 hour ultimatum is reset? Or did he originally mean 72 hours?
FOX is also quoting him today saying he think's he'll have a deal on Monday. Setting himself up for more eggs to the face, perhaps a breakfast TACO?

They’re rational- at least the individual actors pretty much all are. Overall prices, but specially in derivatives trading, is just highly responsive to short term micro stuff with the futures market everyone’s gonna be trying to anticipate the swing and get a price edge. The trading price swings reflect anticipated pricing of the same derivatives in a short span of time rather than the underlying fundamental value of whatever asset is being traded. Once markets open Monday, actual stock price movements will still be wild, but are still trading on what investors think stability will look like in a few weeks or months.
It does help recruiting and retention. There's something comforting in knowing that heaven and earth will be moved to get you home.

The Canadian version is higher performing. We required performance upgrades to meet our SAR performance requirements. Actually, they might have rebaselined the American version to our base frame.
Most of it has been for quite a while… But there’s still enough that can impact profit and loss. And I’d say a shooting war considerably amplifies that. He’ll post “open the fuckin’ strait!” on social media and bomb some bridges. Iran will respond with an AI LEGO music video telling him to eat a dick and they’ll hit another smelter or refinery, and now there’s a couple percentage points’ supply destruction of a key industrial input resource out of commission for a year. So even his snippets of signal amidst the noise matter.

Never, unfortunately. Some of what is emitted becomes policy. People whose jobs depend on eking advantages by making accurate predictions/guesses have to try.
Without meaning to, and for all the wrong reasons, the Trump administration ends up gaining the advantages of formlessness.

I agree with both of you.
Now ask yourselves if that could be exploited by his own establishment.
Not the people that showed up for the MAGA assemblies but the people that financed him, that got him elected and that wrote papers and presentations describing alternate, unexploited courses of action.
I think we all can agree that as much as any individual could be enthralled by the possibility of absolute power the American system makes that hard to achieve.
For a while the most powerful man in the world was the British Prime Minister who enjoyed considerable freedom of action while everyone's attention was focused on the potentially tyrannical monarchs whose actions were tightly constrained by law, custom and practice.
For all the sound and fury have there been material changes in the international situation that can be exploited to the benefit of the US and others? And if so who also benefits?
Trump may be the George III that the Americans feared.
Does he have a North or Pitt who actually govern?
