So, since this is the closest thing we have to a Pierre thread, I will post here.
On Jasmin Laine podcast (gasps! OMG, a far right wing crazy extremist, right? Whatever) she brought up some interesting news headlines from the past.
Remember what I said about character assassination for simply being the CPC leader? Well it happened to Erin O'Toole, who many go on about was "such a good leader" Lets leave the discussion on that for another thread.

So when a few of us say there is a media bias and some here dismiss us, yeah, its right there in front of you. You either choose to see the reality or you don't.
The more the federal government shovels tons of cash to the mainstream media, the more this will go on.
Many are just itching to see Pierre dropped and very desperate for it to happen.

It oddly seems at the forefront of a lot of people's political concerns. Some Conservatives, but way more non-Conservatives. Among the latter it certainly seems more important than the pro-Beijing sentiment that's taken hold in our MP's, and of course Carney’s wheeling and dealing to circumvent a minority government.

Interesting. I know your not CPC (especially since publicly endorsed Futures party), and yet, you would like Pierre to remain right where he is at.
So YOU do not seem him as a threat to Carney's reputation I assume.

I don't think Pierre leaving would change anything.
The CPC base loves him. So it stands to reason they would just pick the next version of him.
Looking at the CPC roster....Micheal Cooper.
So it's either PP or PP from temu.
So might as well leave him in place.
As for the next election in 2029, either PP fights for the middle and wins, or he stays where he is and loses.
If he moves to the center, good, Canada is better for it. If he doesn't and remains the true blue right wing (not far right mind you, just firmly on the right) he loses, and Canada is better for it.

LOTS can happen between now and then. But lets assume Carney continues on his journey. Carney definitely has a more center leaning to him so that edge Pierre had on Trudeau won't work.
The biggest threat Carney can do is get just a few big wins for Canada between now and then, and that will make Pierre's job very tough to fight for the center.
That being said, I have heard from many rumour mills, that Carney is only doing a 4 year run and then calling it a day (he is in his 60s). If that happens, then the game changes completely.

Yeah, 3 years is a long time. I'm just going off broad strokes, most Canadians are in the center, he needs to move himself and the CPC to where the people are, or hope the NDP is popular enough to allow the CPC to win vote splits while maintaining the coalition he built in 2025.
As for Carney, I assume nobody works for all that time to become the most powerful politician in the country only to give it all away. Especially if he wants to give the LPC time to get a new leader. He's not going to do that until after trump is gone, and he has a read on the new person in office.
I don't see him serving more than 2 terms, but I don't see him leaving before 2030, assuming he wins.

Do you want to win an election ? Because the CPC wont with PP at the helm. That window existed, and he failed to get his bow into the seas.
I will not put my X for the LPC. I don't think that will ever happen again. But I don't think I can put it down for the CPC with PP either.
No, his intent is that PP is an easy target for the LPC and a measurable foe.

Lock that up bro, same team. I am allowed to say PP isn't the guy and simultaneously still not support the LPC. Its not binary.
I would love to see the CPC form a Gov. Its the closest I will ever get to my Libertarian utopia. But they need to get their house in order.

I'm not convinced the CPC politicians won't behave the same way as the LPC.
What I would personally like is a rework of our system. Carney is in a good position to accomplish that but his integrity is already questionable.

He is ok with that because he is confident the media will continue successfully villifying him as the second coming of Trump, like your examples of O'Toole, Harper.

Floor-crossing has been studied. It's generally concluded to be a self-interested act, irrespective of what is said in front of cameras.
[Add: best way to reconcile with reality is that whatever "contract" a voter thinks he was getting from a candidate - party, issue, leader, etc - at the moment he cast his vote, the "contract" is dissolved at the instant the election result is certified, and is up for renewal at the start of the next election campaign.]
