Is there any wheres that I can go to buy the old style of combat name tapes?

Anywhere that you can find an enbroidery company/service...........or contact CP Gear on this site.

There was a thing on here once about customizing the p82 ruck to fit the 64 pattern frame but i can not find it. can someone tell me how to fit the p82 ruck onto the 64 frame?

Its really simple.. it's attached the same way as the 82 frame is to the bag.

Take the coat hanger frame out of the 82 pat bag. Now put the empty bag on top of the '64 frame. And lace paracord through the eyelets and around the 64 frame untill you run out of eyelets and tie it off. You could also use zapties(dunno how strong they would be though).

If you want to have the bag low on the frame like how a 64 pat bag would ride that would require a bit of custom work to it and you are better off buying a 64 bag off cpgear IMO

for anyone who is thinking about making a trivia pursuit game about the Canadian military, i found this out when i was looking for info about the p82 web gear; the older 1952 pattern web gear , who was the very last soldier in the west to be issued the complete 1952 web gear? Hint: it was issued in 1985 in Victoria BC. well tell you in awhile.

The same way.

Attach the yoke first, then the lumbar pad.  You may only be able to attach two of the three lumbar pad straps because of size and shape of the jump frame. Then you lace the bag into the top of the frame, the same as you would on an 82 pattern.  I like to reinforce with zapstraps through the eyelets as well.

With a little creative rigging you can put the 82 pattern bag on the lower half of the frame like a normal jump ruck.  I have mine set up this way, but I think I prefer the bag on top/valise on bottom because of the better access to the side pockets.

Good luck!

Sort of sock shaped, somewhere between white and black in colour, made of wool.

I issued complete sets to SYEP recruits in about 84. I had squirreled it away when I was told to get rid of it when we got the 82pat. I stuffed the boxes in a cellar and when they moaned about no webbing for the the recruits due to shortages, pulled out the boxes and everyone was happy, end of summer they made sure I sent the webbing off to depot to get rid them. Next summer we had no webbing to issue......sigh

The above is a custom job, unauthorized for use in garrison.

You've got one hell of an interest in "old stuff".  Are you an historian, perhaps?

As far as the old wool socks go - I've still got a few pair that I wear on occasion - I suppose I could photograph some, but not a word to General Cox - the toe seam threads may not match.

Oh dear. Are historians already re-enacting the 1970's? It seems like yesterday to me. :'(

Cdn webbing as fol (from 1937 to 1982)

1937 ptrn (WW2)
1951 Ptrn (updated 37 Ptrn)
1964 Ptrn (Velcro wonder with no mag pouches)
1982 Ptrn (used until replaced by TV, and is still be around)

There never was any 1952 Ptrn.

As for 51 Ptrn being issued, it was still around the Regina (CFB MJ) Substores in the early-mid 80s to some degree.

Does it really matter what the socks looked like in the 70's?.

Socks haven't changed much in the last 100 years or so
