Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

You're half right.

The goal is to crush their opponents in an election, so they have the time and space to enact their policies, and get the credit for them. The NDP have been propping up an ineffective and unpopular LPC, while the LPC claim all the credit for the legislation that does become somewhat successful. If the NDP was getting credit for their efforts it would be reflected in the polls... It isn't, which means their strategy is not working, and realistically was never likely to be successful.
Or maybe, just maybe, you're both wrong. Maybe the NDP pushed the liberals to enact their policies because they truly believed it was for the good of Canadians, credit be damned.

If the “credit be dammed” part was completely true, that feeds right into the “they don’t seriously want to govern” narrative that some criticize them for.

Mind you, a lot of that specific critique tends to come from parties that have been Captains of the government ship federally, too, so consider the source.

You don't rise to that level of power by being a good guy just looking out for the poors.

It's a great narrative, but it's not how politics actually work.

Naw. They're just doing things to feel good about themselves. The "good of Canadians" is not served by piling up competing obligations for insufficient public funds, especially with programs that aggravate demand without addressing supply.
