No, you just aren't engaging with the initial post n good faith. You're pretending that t's a 13b investment divided by the initial batch of 4000 homes and nothing else. Right in this threat without you having to click anything there are already a couple posts offering further details that make it very clear this will be a much longer term and larger sustained plan, and also that it has multiple facets beyond just building that first batch of homes on federal lands.

I understand your extreme skepticism regarding everything to do with this current government, and that's fine, but you can definitely do better than what you just attempted.

Sure they are talking of homeless shelters and all the other needed social necessities but they don't belong in a housing budget. The question for me is what are these 4000 homes going to cost and what are the plans for the balance of the fund. Without that it is just another Trudeauism.

I hope you aren't just dividing 13B by 4000, because this is also the associated costs. Six cities from across the country have been identified from the first batch. The CEO for the new organization is the former head of Toronto housing who was very successful in that role. Given we already have sites identified this is likely already full steam ahead.
 
Timeline for the federal government to address things is years, as most of the problems are things that have been building for decades, impacted by things outside of the country (and their control). Similarly, their fixes are top down and can have massive impacts, usually unforeseen because it's complicated issues.

On day 1 he 'axed the tax', is now talking about a full on pause of the EV mandate, and renewed development of oil and natural gas, while also pumping massive funds into the CAF, planning to trim the PS overall, and a host of other things that are normally on the blue side of the line. If he was doing the same thing in a different party there would be all kinds of 'We're back!!!' type things from the CPC.

The real test is whether or not the CPC under PP's leadership work with the LPC to get things done. So far, the PM has said the CPC is working with them, so it's mission accomplished CPC and LPC.

It's minority government, that can fall at any time if the political tides change. PP's job as leader of the CPC and the Official Opposition is to play politics with statements, in order to make the government look bad, while making him look like the PM in waiting. You're smart enough to know this, so I'm guessing you're pointing out his behaviour to let all of us know how much you still don't like him...
 
I couldn't find how many of the 1.4 million homes the LPC promised to build in 2021 actually got built.

The Federal Gov't has limited levers to unstick lower levels of government.
Material prices and labour availability have been through the roof as well, with a 10-15% annual inflation rate, so lot of things impacting build rates, as well as contracts, where the builder can no longer afford to make it at a price from years ago when the project was delayed.

By any one's math the 4000 homes are, at a guess, 25% of the 13B, indicating that there are one hell of a lot of associated costs. we have 8 billion that isn't accounted for except through implication. Since every penny has to be borrowed, I for one would like to see the breakdown before I start heaping accolades on the government for a job well done.

Most modular homes are $150k to $460k, that would be straight up $1,840,000,000 for 4,000 homes in just straight build cost. Plus an estimated $1,280,000,000 in installation costs. So let's say $3 billion just for the actual homes. Thats not including any of the additional infrastructure, contracting, design work, administration, permits, taxes etc
