Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

He's not crossing the floor. He's resigning as a member of parliament. So his seat will be open and a by-election will have to be called (unless the government falls before that time).

Anyone willing to make an educated guess as to which party will win a by-election in Edmonton Riverbed?
Who the leader of the CPC is during that by-election might play a role in who wins.

Do their need Charismatic at this point in the game?
They need a voice of reason and clarity. Someone electable.
I totally agree but unfortunately reason amd clarity arent main selling points to the electorate these days. OToole was reasonable and very bright, but lacked charisma and confidence. It cost him the election.

According to Fife, there is still one more CPC member in play.

That’s because he looked like another Harper against a youthful Trudeau.

So the line of thought that it was just Chris having sour grapes is officially in the dustbin.

All the hill reporters are talking pretty openly about CPC members of parliament meeting personally with Marc Carney. They are also saying Matt Jeneroux met with Carney on Monday.

PP may not make it to January.

Well, his office was telling the truth…
His riding is a conservative strong hold but was only about a 4k difference last election. A weak cpc and strong liberal candidate could spell doom in a by election. We also cant discount how anger in provincial politics at conservatives could spill over into federal.

He only won by 5%

Liberals have said they've been courting him since 2019.

It’s not clear to me: is he sitting as an independent or is he resigning his seat?
