Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

I was originally going to go with something very much along those lines, but pulled back as to not provoke any potential David Eby fans that may be lurking about...

Ontario nickel mine on Mark Carney’s special projects list, insider says

The Crawford Nickel Project is a proposed mine located north of Timmins, Ont. and is expected to create thousands of jobs
I've been following that in Northern Ontario Business. It is supposed to be huge, possibly rivalling the Sudbury Basin in reserves and grade, and others are still drilling around the area. The timing is fortuitous since Kidd Creek (deepest base metal mine in the world) is set to wind down in a couple of years which will impact a large number of jobs. It is well on its way and seems to be well financed, but if the feds can shorten the EA process it could knock a couple of years off christening.

Finance minister was in calgary today, attended the ceremony at the military museum as the official rep for the GoC. Wonder if he is in town visiting the major projects office ahead of the next wave of announcements?

This will be carneys fight internally, against the environmentalist crusaders demanding more that had a lot more swing under Trudeau
This fellow has some ax to grind (founded or unfounded) because he was dropped from Cabinet when Carney was elected leader.

For certain he has sealed his fate for a solid reason not to be put in Cabinet again.

A bit of background -

Erskine-Smith, who was first elected in 2015, said in January 2024 that he wouldn't run again in the next federal election, but reversed course in December after he was appointed minister of housing by then-prime minister Justin Trudeau.

Are you on the bus or off the bus?

Likely angling for the now vacant OLP seat.

I was wondering that as well. Rumint has my crappy Lib MP, Katerina Gould thinking about this as well. She was also (1000% correct) dumped from Carney's cabinet.

I think some of these folks would make decent mayors somewhere, but I really don't see Karina Gould as a premier.

NES maybe, he's one that would either soar or crash and burn with little space in between those two extremes.

Edit:spelling karina Gould name properly

Please for the love of God don't saddle me with her as my mayor of Burlington! She's best suited for the Public School Board Trustee and that's about it.

I met the Mayor of Burlington, Marianne Meed Ward and her husband on the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands tour.

A very nice couple.

CN putting the brakes on linking northern ontario mines to port without guaranteed volumes, IE we will do it if we can profit from it

and Japan signals it wants our energy and minerals
