Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

It's always the bloody Boomers.

Not to suggest growing up in one generation was better / easier, or worse, than another. Just different. Eg: analog vs digital.

Young men of the digital age may be more vulnerable to being sucked into 24/7 cable news and internet political memes, podcasts and forums etc.

Young men of the digital age bypass cable news almost if not entirely. It’s barely on the radar.

Thank you for correcting me. I was a young man of the analog age.

Are young men of the digital age vulnerable to manipulation on the internet?

Not to suggest young men of analog generations were more , or less, intelligent than young men of digital age.

But, we weren't exposed to the internet. Not to suggest that was a good or bad thing. Just different.

Extremely so. The rampancy of online radicalization of young men is a significant and recognized problem in the various public safety, intelligence, and policing communities who work that stuff.

Not to mention all the instant information has resulted in a lack of attention span and the ability to critically think.

I watched a interesting video where they were talking about in the future what shall be the determining factor in success won’t be income or where you came from, family money etc. (your traditional factors) rather those who can critically think and those who can’t.

Society is at a tipping point. Education is failing, the youth are addicted and uneducated and no one is doing anything about it.

Literacy rates are dropping fast, teachers lack the skills and support needed to teach effectively. The youth don’t want to learn, tech does it for them and the teachers won’t force them. Ethics is out the window.

All in all it is a brutal combination of nihilism and the realization there is a lack of opportunities due to choices they didn’t even realize they were making until it was too late to effectively change it.

Whole new ball game now.

In analog days, if a young dude was politically "fired up " enough, best they could do was write a Letter to the Editor of their local newspaper - under their own name.

Might get published. Might not.

That's progress, I guess.

But now it's both ways; not only can you more easily "engage", but you can more easily/readily receive/witness other people's (often loud) "engagement". And, people are emotional, uninformed, and stupid.

Looksnlike Aaron Gunn is heavily considering the BC conservative leadership

I think if anybody can steer BC back onto a sustainable course, Aaron Gunn is a solid candidate for the job.

He doesn't have a ton of experience on politics yet - he was elected as an MP for the first time just 7 months ago.

But he is a proud Canadian with common sense, obviously cares about the country (as proven by his documentaries), and it's his limited experience in politics that might make him one of the best choices (imo) as he hasn't been in long enough to be corrupted or addicted to the Kool-Aid.

Compared to David Eby, I think Mr. Gunn would be a rock solid improvement.

If he actually vacates his seat, and Jeneroux resigns as well, I believe that will provide the LPC with an actual majority by attrition until and unless byelections fill those seats back up with Conservatives.

It would be quite the dice roll, depending on who the NDP and LPC run.

Rest assured though that it will obviously be Carney's fault if it results in an LPC majority.

No no no, think about it. If, and I mean this is a big IF, PMMC really does think of the anti-gun lobby as "baggage", but he's beholden to it, then the best thing that can happen for gun owners (other than a CPC majority), would be a LPC majority so big that he can start to ignore or even shed the anti-gun crew.

My MP, Yasir Naqvi, spent most of 2024 campaigning to become leader of the Ontario Liberal party, but did so while retaining his seat in the House of Commons.

There's unfortunate precedent to continue drawing a federal paycheque while campaigning for a provincial job.

Mate, I don't see the LPC starting to shed some of it's own policies if it stumbles it's way into being a majority...why would they?

(And with the recent events in Australia, I can see the government doubling down on their gun bans rather than letting it go)

I don't like the idea of floor crossing as a way to form a majority. IMHO this should trigger and election. Same the other way, if floor crossing caused a party to go from majority to minority it should also trigger a general election.

I'll stand by for in the flux now of:

Let me thank you all in advance, tips.

Dismissing facts as “drivel” is certainly…a way, to make one’s point I guess.

That is some Ex-Wife level passive aggression there.
