Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Another interesting take I have heard from several political pundits (one of them being Warren Kinsella) is that Carney wants to unload more of the Trudeau crowd. The far, far left crowd that will die before they see a new pipeline, or basically never want anything built.

Carney is right to get rid of these unproductive idiots but he risk fracturing his Liberal coalition. A "rupture" so to speak.

Before anyone wets themselves prematurely with excitement on Canada-China trade, or keeps saying "nostradamus" over and over again,

To be honest, I don't Carney is the mastermind some make him out to be, and if getting Donald Trump to say stupid shit is his strategy going into the election this year (both left and right political pundits are sure its happening), that strategy will wear out real quick. Also note, many saying Carney does not want the new NDP leader to get any traction (You know where those votes will come from)
I never said free trade with China.

I said drop EV tariffs, build Chinese EVs here, sell canola to China.

Which Carney did.

Nostradamus.

drop EV tariffs
Yup he did. Unless I am mistaken
build Chinese EVs here
What? Proposals or suggestions, nothing committed to yet
canola to China.
Nothing sold yet, they lowering tariffs March 1 for a limited period, no obligation to actually buy (word in the ag community is China mostly wants the seed to process themselves, that is way less income for us), and keep in mind, Russia (which is a CLOSE ally of China, for you elbozos to consider) has been stepping up Canola production to fill in the gap that was left by Canada getting kicked to the curb two years ago.

You should start reading the fine print on things.

BEIJING/SINGAPORE- A Chinese importer bought one Panamax cargo of about 60,000 metric tons of Canadian canola shortly after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Beijing last week, two traders with direct knowledge of the deal told Reuters on Monday.
About that.

About that.
Read that article before you shove it out there. Its Canola, as in SEED not oil. WAY LESS money. and its not a large shipment, month after month. Thats what we need if Canada is dumb enough to keep growing so much Canola (and again make ourselves dependent on China).

You are known for knee jerk responses, and this is one of them, Its not the win you think it is. Do more than a five minute google search before responding.

I still maintain that Carney and the LPC aren't going to risk it on a spring election.
I suspect you're correct. So long as they can move legislation through parliament, I doubt they want to risk an election.

It's better for them to wait for some of their policies to bear fruit, rather than to hope that a bump from a great speech will carry them through.

In six months or so we’ll have decent trade data on what’s actually sailing offshore sold to China, and we’ll be able to make meaningful analysis of the efficacy of that pretty minor trade deal. Any celebration or condemnation of the terms of the trade agreement before that analysis can be done just jerking off online.

So a sale was made. Therefore, more than nothing. Thank you.

Several things here, though to me the greenhouses are a big one. Food security is national security.

To lower the cost of food production, we are introducing immediate expensing for greenhouse buildings. This allows producers to fully write off greenhouses acquired on or after November 4, 2025, and that become available for use before 2030. This measure supports increased domestic supply and investment in food production over the medium-term

So glad that we are back to the usually programmed slap fight.

Not that I have heard, but I don't know if any have been submitted for evaluation. If a market is closed to you, why would you bother? I have no clue regarding the process, how long it would take or how much it would cost.

I know CF Moto, a Chinese manufacturer of motorcycles, ATVs, quads, etc. is now in both the Canadian and US markets.
One interesting thing I heard is that China is going to mandate all cars have an exterior, mechanical handle, so that would actually require Tesla to do a design change to sell their cars there. Better than being trapped inside after a crash and dying in a fire though.

China is actually one of the international leads in a lot of the fire research around EVs and other new technologies so that's where a lot of info is coming from, and I'm sure they will make the changes required to bring them to market here fairly easily, as long as the crash test is within standard, as that's something baked into the car structure that would require a major redesign.

Worst case they develop a line meant for export, and aim for something that would meet EU, Canadian and US standards (with minor mods for regional requirements), and if they don't have one already standing by sure it will get developed remarkably fast. Lot of smart people to work on that, and they will happily build higher quality stuff that they can sell (just like they build cheap crap because there is a market for it).

Corvette uses a similar, also stupid electric door latch that has caused at least one death when the driver was trapped for several days after the battery failed and he was unable to open the door or access the emergency release.

I still don't get why they moved away from this:
