Interesting conversation with an unapologetic Poilievre supporter.

and this is on businesses, using and in many cases exploiting things like the TFW program, and other programs for cheap labour rather then investing in canadians or the business. The provinces haven't helped the situation either, but good on the gov to be finally trying to turn this around and focus on generating growth and jobsWe have also been spending money on hiring low wage foreigners rather spending money on the equipment that would allow our resident population to produce more and make more mone for us all, without taking on the costs of finding more food, housing and health care for the hired help.

which tax policies are you referring to? we have some of the lowest corporate and capital gains taxes in the G7. History also shows decreasing taxes on businesses has not translated into increased investmentThis is also on our tax policies and regulations that discorage the types of investments other countries seek to attract, Starmer is pursuing Trudeau's policies and money is running for the exits.
Indeed. Until and unless I see a transcript confirming it, I put zero weight to Bessent’s characterization.
I await the Trump administration’s calm, mature, and rational response to this denial.
Ill trust Carney over the trump admin
I'm guessing that this supposed "walking back" by Carney was simply the PM re-stating what he said publicly about his visit to China. Canada is strategically making some targeted trade agreements with China but we have no intention of entering a full free-trade agreement with them (which comments from Trump earlier seemed to suggest)

I don't follow the Agribusiness but it seems vertical farming is most suitable for leafy greens; plants that grow fast, are generally eten as-is and the edible/marketable bits are above ground. I certainly don't see it suitable for plants such as root vegetables, grains which, if nothing else, have a long growing season or most tree fruits. As mentioned, energy costs would be an issue.Vertical farming enters the chat:
B.C. entrepreneurs see sky as limit for vertical farming
Indoor farming expected to grow as dominant source for leafy greens in next decade
Up Vertical Farms launched production in March at its fully automated, custom-built, vertical-farming facility in Pitt Meadows.
Brothers Shahram and Bahram Rashti founded and financed the multimillion-dollar operation that is in a 50,000-square-foot building on 10 acres of ALR land, and they designed the company’s equipment, CEO Bahram Rashti told BIV.
PMO has said that they aren't going to release the transcripts of the call.I await the Trump administration’s calm, mature, and rational response to this denial.
Nor should they. A little bit of childish "he said/he said" isn't reason to disclose the details of private diplomatic discussions.PMO has said that they aren't going to release the transcripts of the call.

Yesterday's Hanwha news wasn't just about Canadian steel. They are definitely putting money where their mouth is.

All the more reason we should buy from them, subs, arty, tanks, etc the availability rate of K2s suggests we wouldn't have the supply chains issues we do with LeopardGermany is trying to find 500 BEuros to invest in defence. At the same time it is trying to miltarise its society, save its auto industry and convert it to weapons manufacture.
South Korea has been supplying the world with ships, cars, TVs and smartphones for years. Its population is highly miltarised. It is armed to the teeth and its domestic supply lines are all open and running efficiently. And people are willing to pay for wjat they have and they know.
Advantage South Korea.

of course not. When a country takes a decade to replicate what they did 40+ plus years before in (what) 9 months (the pipeline) and spends 10 times the original estimate in doing so, no responsible money manager is going to choose that country in which to invest. We invested in Canada and our investments barely kept up to the cost of living and those were the good years. 5 years ago we decided enough was enough and chose to invest off-shore. Since then we have averaged 14% real growth per annum. Our P.M. has burnt a lot of carbon jetting around the world and having his picture taken with foreign leaders. I have heard and read a lot of promises and plans but natives are still boiling water, there are no improvements being put in place between Winnipeg and Churchill, no pipelines going anywhere and no shovels in the ground. The only province with a positive housing market seems to be Alberta and the only projects being fast-tracked are the ones that were already approved. yada, yada, yada.which tax policies are you referring to? we have some of the lowest corporate and capital gains taxes in the G7. theres more to the world then mega projects, there are other investments, and the last time during the harper years, when corporate taxes were cut to where they are now. We saw no major increases in investment, thats just not how companies actually do things at all, infact unless theres a tax break, many dont. including areas that dont need environmental reviews etc it just doesn't materialize, long gov record or notof course not.
