O&G exports wont do much to deal with food inflation, 5% of the 7% in food inflation this past year have been importation related costs. Now if you are saying we should take control of gas prices domestically as a net producer of oil, congrats thats the old NEP. Canada will forever face higher food inflation as long as we are an importer of food, which will likely be forever.

We can eliminate a number of those importation fees. There are currently no soft fruit canneries in Canada. Build one. There are any number of unused or underused greenhouses. Encourage hydroponic veggie growth instead of using them for pot. Stop importing asparagus and other veggies when they are in season here. The difference in price was minimal before the costs went up. Eliminate the carbon tax on all elements related to farming. The radish farmer in Mexico certainly doesn't pay it. etc. etc.
build a cannery, great now you gotta import those peaches, apples, etc because our growing season is short. not importing things will give consumers less choice which will drive up prices of what is available, be it asparagus, or fruit. For this to work we would need to turn thousands of km into green houses. The carbon tax barely plays a factor here, we saw these same prices spikes any time oil spikes, the 2000s for example
And guess who's going to be picking all those fruits/vegetables? Hint: It won't be Canadians.

you don't know much about agriculture do you? Our growing season in Niagara is plenty long enough for peaches. There was a very successful Canary in St. David's up until the owners decided that peaches canned in China were a better deal. Your price in the grocery didn't go down by the way. Likewise there was a successful cannery in Dunnville doing up tomatoes. That one was run by Heinz and they moved out to the states. Should I mention Leamington and the acres of green houses there plus the fields? Tomato paradise that one. There were also canneries up near Goderich. Apples, lots of them at one time. Global warming should be increasing the supply, don't you know. As for driving up prices, there is an asparagus marketing board that limits the amount that can be produced: otherwise there would be a ton of it and the prices would match the Mexican ones. Even so a bundle of seconds (so called because the stems are crooked) retail for 3.99 at the fruit stands. Mexican produce is currently 4.99. The carbon tax plays a factor in everything you buy that is made or grown in Canada. Get real.
