Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The Conservatives got you judging a book by the cover. Diabolical
A few things.

These channels are extremely shallow. Most times you know exactly what you're going to get from the thumbnail or title.

Also, I'm not going to financially support these creators by watching their garbage.

Lastly, if on the rare occasion, I need more information that I cannot gleam from the title or thumbnail, AI summary. And then I'm of course disappointed.

These channels, again, are garbage. Loud, intellectually dishonest, garbage. They exist to keep people angry and to make people dumber.

It might have been more clear (Carney joke intended) to mention just looking at thumbnails and video titles from the beginning (seemed like you were suggesting you watched them) but I agree with you about them being negative nancies about everything. They never seem to have anything positive to say.

Has to be exhausting being upset all the time.

It does seem like the economy is doing better than expected, little early to celebrate. Lets see how many concessions the master negotiator gives Trump and what we get in return.

When even Australia is slapped with 10% tariffs on everything and they had a trade deficit with the US, I don’t expect us to get a better deal than that.
Trump is out to screw everything and everyone, with no exceptions.
Just put a time box around this equal to his time in office.

He is personally profiting from all of it, this is his leverage/gravy train. Hard to make someone go against their personal interests.

Yup, especially when you can play Caesar and give yourself absolution from all crimes by pardoning yourself, your family and all your associates.

And who says that the US system of government is ‘better’ than ours?

Pros and cons. If Trump was PM of Canada he would be able to do a lot more than what he is doing in the states thanks to having no any safeguards (theoretical safeguards mean nothing if they aren’t used).

Having the house and senate being equal partners prevents consolidation of power in the presidency, it is part of the reason their political system has stagnated so much, they can’t push much through the system. Most of what he is trying to do is by using laws passed years ago (sometimes in novel ways).

The house is currently relying on the courts to constrain him, but if they wished to they could do more.

Is that correct though? His MP’s could stage a revolt and bring him down and oust him as party leader.

They potentially could, depending on the parties rules for removing the head of the party (for example Trudeau had to resign they couldn’t boot him).

By the same regard the house republicans or senate republicans could just not go along with his nonsense and Trump would be hamstrung as well. With a 2/3 vote in house and senate they don’t need presidential authority for anything and could limit his powers through law. If they even wanted to they could impeach him.

They CHOOSE to go along with his whims, they aren’t forced to.

There is lots of potential constraints the American political system can put on him, our system is basically completely lacking in those constraints. We just haven’t had anyone as extreme as Trump get to the top.
