Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

Have a political system that has greater inclusion of all parties. FPTP has issues, but no matter the push by the electorate to have some form of improved representation, or the promises of parties to do so, it dies on the vine because in the end, it’s about power and influence.

We need a mechanism to hold politicians accountable, or fire them, that's better than "vote for someone else in 4 years".

Its a sad state of affairs... We Canadians accept to little by way of performance and conduct from our Govs and Politicians.
but we didn't accept it so stop beating the public please. We elected a minority albeit a strong minority government. The largest elected group promptly went out and bribed a few opportunists or simply vulnerable individuals to achieve majority status. That is not the fault of the voting public but simply individual avarice.

4 time CPC Marilyn Gladu said funding to her district was cut and the Liberals said if she crosses the floor she will get the funding back.

Canadians basically having their shop window broken then buying protection from people holding rocks.

Canadians elected this Gov and seem to happy with their conduct, purchase of a majority included.

Yes, Canadians get the Gov the deserve.

Neither, confirmation of what Jarnhammer notes below. Are we to believe that any party that gets into a majority position *will actually walk-walk the talk-talk of transparency?

Canadian's should expect better. And one shouldn't use 11 years old articles to justify or defect from present poor performance.

Expect and partake in the political system to support better outcomes.

Neither justification, nor deflection. Juxtaposition is valid, particularly when someone today is critiquing others for the same behaviour that they were a part of 11 and even more years ago.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.
I’ve been sleeping fine under Mulroney, Campbell, Chretien, Martin, Harper, Trudeau and Carney, thanks, even though all those PMs were at one time or another accused of eschewing transparency during their governing. I’ve done what I’ve needed to do to both participate positively in Canada’s political system and to ensure my own household is in order. Your attempt to imply that I am deluded or deliberately and willfully ignorant of some set of facts isn’t going to cause my sleep to be any less restful, nor is it going to bless me with some new found enlightenment that the sooner Canadians dump Carney and get things back on track with Poilievre, the better we’ll all be.

We don't even need to go back 11 years.

Provinces are doing this on the daily as well. Conservative Premiers, Liberal Premiers, CAQ Premier, NDP Premier, they all do it.

The difference is for 6 years we had non stop minorities at the federal level so people just got accustomed to the transparency. It was not and never was the norm for the ruling party to help the opposition to defeat the ruling party. Harper didn't do it when he had a majority, Trudeau didn't when he has a majority, it was just because Trudeau and by extension Carney didn't have a majority that this was happening.

The current situation is far more the norm.

Not my attempt all. IMHO you were just playing the whataboutism game.

Sleep well brother. Sleep health is important.

Conservatives call for Liberals to block 'candy sentences' for immigrants convicted of crimes

Conservatives can make noise about this but really that's all it is. Noise.

Meanwhile, an alleged classified report from the CBSA is saying crimes by Indian student permit holders increased 8,800% between 2016 and 2024.

India the “top source” country of foreign students charged with crimes

-2019–2023: approximately 4,000 Indian citizens who entered Canada on study permits were charged with 17,929 offences.
-Of those charges, approximately 4,920 were categorized as serious or organized-crime-related.
-97% of those serious/organized-crime-related charges were violent.
2024: approximately 2,418 Indian citizens on study visas were charged with more than 13,040 offences.

The Criminal Code should be amended to prevent immigration status from being a consideration during sentencing.

Wasn't there a leaked CSIS report that said Indian gangs were exploiting the foreign student program to get people into canada? That alone i think should cause a temporary halt to all new indian student visas until safe guards can be put in place.

Well, the return of Parliament this fall is shaping up to be an interesting one.

[CBC]Over 29,000 Canadians call for U.S. Ambassador Hoekstra to be expelled

It's now over 43,000 as of this post.

Whereas:
  • U.S Ambassador Pete Hoekstra has repeatedly made public statements undermining the Canada-U.S. diplomatic relations, including characterizing the 2025 Canadian federal election as "anti-American";
  • Ambassador Hoekstra has normalized the Trump administration's threats to annex Canada as the "51st state," describing such rhetoric as a "term of endearment";
  • Ambassador Hoekstra has accused Canada of interfering in U.S. domestic politics while himself making repeated interventions in Canadian political discourse inconsistent with diplomatic protocol;
  • Ambassador Hoekstra has been linked to a Michigan-based voter identification app used by the Alberta separatist Centurion Project, while claiming no knowledge of its use; and
  • The Alberta Prosperity Project met with U.S. State Department officials three times between April 2025 and January 2026, with Hoekstra claiming no knowledge of those meetings, raising serious questions about U.S. diplomatic interference in Canadian unity.
We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:

1. Formally declare Pete Hoekstra persona non grata and request his removal as U.S. Ambassador to Canada;
2. Raise with the United States the pattern of conduct by Ambassador Hoekstra inconsistent with the Vienna convention on Diplomatic Relations; and
3. Direct a parliamentary committee to review U.S. diplomatic interference in Canadian domestic affairs.
