Poilievre and his Reform Party faction
Reform? Bud, they are long history. Comparing todays CPC to the reform is like comparing Carney/Trudeau Lioberals with Chretein Liberals. Very different beast.
Have you heard Poilievre call for senatorial reform specifically with equal senators for each province? Have you heard him ask for not treating Quebec any different than any other province? Nope. These were key reform party aims.
He has advocated for smaller government (and fewer regulations) and to treat Western Canada fairly (there are many who back him). That alone is hardly enough to say they are "reform party" holdovers.
and then shifted away from that alignment
What? Poilievre and this brand of CPC are seeking
-Smaller government
-Fewer taxes
-Less regulations
-Removal of ALL carbon taxes/fees/levys/ etc especially for ALL energy and resource projects
-Reward Municipalities for early completion of homes when federal funding is involved/penalize for late or no completion
-Speed up major projects (and NOT start more bureaucracies)
-Criminal justice and bail reform (Jail not bail reforms)
-Encourage small business development
-Encourage expansion of trades (plumbers, carpenters, electricians, etc)
-Reduced immigration and returning to Harper era immigration policy (which Jason Kenney openly supports)
What here is "Reform party" platform from 25-30 years ago?
