Smarter play would be Carney in my opinion

Agree, personally, but the Cult of Personality wants to take “Because it’s 2015!” and raise it up a notch to “Because it’s 2025!” (To have the first elected woman PM).

Mark Carney could be trouble for the CPCs. I see him as a Blue Liberal. He could be the centrist they need.

I'm in the same boat. Pretty sure I've posted on here (years ago) that Carney would be a slamdunk for me over PP.
The last few years have changed that. I do worry that he's too close to Trudeau, and connection to Telford/Butts is sending up huge red flags.

Not intended to be a gotcha- moreso an exploration of our potential biases and the potential impacts of external influence?
Were we naive? Uninformed?
Has Carney done something to material change our opinions of him?
Or have we fallen "victim" to a very well run infor machine?

Now that Carney is firmly in the running, expect his past dealings to be brought front and centre. That will shape opinions.

I was curious at first, but now that I know his deep ties to net zero, Trudeau, and watched his reply when challenged on foreign pipelines vs Canadian ones... I'm firmly in the hell no category.

LPC: Carney has a lot of economic credit and is very well-spoke, seems prime ministerial and even has the tie-in to Canada’s national sport as he played D1 at Harvard. He is very well connected to the climatologist world which still has sway in places and he knows the world that the Desmarais, Chretiens and others of the ‘Power’ful side of Canadian and international business and influence operate within.

Me: if he were less encumbered by direct connection to Telford, Butts and Clow, I’d be less concerned that he's more of the same, just a lot smarter (devious).

I've heard the commentariat say it'll likely be online, but haven't seen any final "here's how it's going to be" yet.

I also wonder how transparent the vote is, if things head in a ‘Boaty McBoatface’ kind of way….ie. not for Carney…

Maybe smart/ devious enough and with enough experience climbing organization ladders that he's using said crew for specific short term (power consolidation) aims but they don't really have their hooks into him? Would make sense given the influence the PMO office has gained and currently wields.

My hope anyway- because I share your concerns.

And before any attack from others than yourself for being a closet Liberal for having the audacity to hope for positives out of the LPC- it is to the benefit of the country for us to have good leadership from both sides of the aisle. I saw Carney as a blue grit- and I'm not willing to give up on that hope- yet.

IKN, I do see him as a Blue Grit, though not quite as Blue as Paul Martin (whom I could easily get behind tomorrow if he were in play). It’s the linkage *to JT’s cult-of-personality machine that has me *most concerned. I will also be keeping a very close eye on how he deals with Canada’s energy sector prior to the election. There needs to be pragmatic balance between goals of improving things environmentally and how the Chinas, Indias and tbh the Americas are doing things.
