Medal mount for a civi suit jacket

Ive only ever seen ribbon mounts. How would a medal mount on suit jacket work, without poking holes ?

How strong are the magnets? I imagine they'd have to be pretty strong unless it's for just a couple gongs.

I jury-rigged my own years ago. Found a piece of plastic (actually it was a bank cheque folder) that was narrow enough to fit in a breast pocket, long enough that it reached the bottom of the pocket and stiff enough that it didn't bend. I pinned my medals bar to the top (if the material is more puncture resistant, pre-form the holes with an awl). The pocket piece isn't seen above the medals, completely fills the pocket so they don't move and the medals are easily unpinned if needed to be worn with a uniform. It ain't rocket surgery.

The clear, plastic thing goes in the pocket. The medals are displayed outside, like they would normally if you just pushed the pins through the jacket.

Cool; although I'm no sure it answers my question. Are you wanting to keep them in your pocket and only haul them out once you get to an event or venue?

I 3D printed my own (in black), scaled to fit the blazer I would normally wear. I added pins to pull the medals closer to the jacket so they don't flop around so much. I can make the STL file available to those who want it.

I don't think I understand your question. The medals will not be in the pocket, they will be outside displayed on my chest. They are held in place by the plastic piece which would be in my pocket, which saves me from poking holes in my blazer.

My old CO does medal mounting and makes things like that. Has half a hinge on the top to provide loops to put the medal pin through. I don't have one, so I don't have a picture (not really needed for me, as I only have one gong).

I know a few people that have gone with them; they work amazing for the ribbons, and great for the single racks I've seen. Should scale up fine, but does add a lot of cost compared to a handful of small pins that typically you don't notice anyway on dark jackets, especially after a dry cleaning.
