Hi everyone

I need some advice for my case. I applied to CAF, specifically as an Engineer Officer. I completed my medical and Interview in the first week of June 2025. After completing the medical the recruiting center gave me a form to complete it from a local hearing clinic. I completed the test and submitted the form on 13 June 2025. Instantly they informed me that my file is sent to Ottawa for a review by the medical unit/doctor and approximately it may take more or less 8 weeks.

Since then I am in this limbo and waiting to get an update regarding my file. This month I contacted with the recruiting center and they (my file manager) informed me that as of today they don't have any update for me, plus they don't know when my file will be reviewed.

I am rooting for a decision as I put a lot of effort in it and if they think that I am medically unfit to serve in the CAF then they should let me know and I want to move forward. This kind of uncertainty killing me each and every day, and I am totally clueless what to do.

Sorry to hear this is happening to you, and your frustrations as a result of the delay.
My medical was back in 2021, and since then I've heard that there's a huge overflow of applicants medicals to be reviewed and just not enough staff to fulfill that demand. Hopefully it gets cleared soon!

Are there any concerns you have regarding your medical that makes you worry that you would be deemed unfit?

So, as I've told many people here, when medicals go into the Recruit Medical Office, there are essentially 3 piles - Recommend Immediate Enrolment, Do Not Recommend Enrolment and Needs Further Review. The "Needs Further Review" pile is always the deepest. There are always lots of files and only so many people reviewing them...and when I say "so many", I really mean, "not that many". The fact that you were sent for further audiology screening means that they're going to take a longer look at what may/may not be wrong, if you meet the Common Enrolment Medical Standard and then have to determine if there is potential for deterioration over time due to the issue itself and or exposures common in the trade and military in general. Unfortunately, the timeline the CFRC gave you was likely pulled out of their posterior based only roughly on how things have been going - no real guarantees.
