Military Hockey

I was wondering if a lot of bases have hockey rinks or is it just a select few? And does some sort of league exist or what?

Yes,each Branch of the Military has Hockey Team‘s and play with in thier Brigade‘s,Wing‘s or Fleet.
Most Base‘s have Rink‘s.

Hockey is vey big in the Force‘s.

Yup it is.
I‘m in the Military and they are "OUR" Hockey Team‘s so to speak.
Ergo the possessive

There is a female in 5 RGC, BFC Valcartier that plays for Canada's National Team!

In addition to the base teams, there are also intersection leagues, intersection being units belonging to the particular formation, ie 406 Sqn, 423 Sqn, LFAA, 12 AMS, the MPs, etc here in Shearwater.  We have a 10 team league, Halifax has a similar league for the fishheads. Every place I've been posted had an intersection league, some places it's quite large, Kingston for example had 3 divisions and a total of about 20 teams.

The best part is that you usually don't pay for ice time and if you need equipment you can sign most of it out from the sports stores at the gyms.

Any women play in your hockey teams, or others in the league?

I play for Shilo's women's hockey team (first year having a team!!) although i'm pretty sure lots of women on base play on the men's teams too..

Almost ever base has a rink. Here at CFB Suffield there are only 140 (give or take) Canadains posted here and we have a rink, there are also Golf courses, curling rinks, swimming pools and ball fields on most bases, the rec faculties on some base are world class.

We have three leagues at CFB Kingston.  The A div is the very good players, B div is the normal players and C div is the people learning the game.  It is an excellent system but we are a smaller base that can afford that ice time.  We have women in the leagues and have a base womens team.
