Navy to replace official Heart of Oak march with ‘more inclusive’ music

People not being giant assholes and practicing good headiquette by cleaning up after themselves as they go helped a lot; if you have that in place cleaning stations was really just a quick scrub of the toilets, mop the deck and empty the garbage.

I am deffo going to start using that term at my house ;)

In the Army context, it’s a little redundant though, I don’t think I’ve ever heard either Army march actually played in the wild — (presumably they play them at Change of Command for the Army Commander?) — identity in the Army is too wrapped up in Corps and Regiments. Actually, if the CRCN really wanted to minimize the prominence of “Heart of Oak” the way to do it might be to encourage writing and using original MARPAC and MARLANT marches, once “HOO” is closely identified with NCR sailors, it would be quietly buried.
There's already something of a precedent for placing ceremonial weight on the coasts: the pair of King's Colours held at Esquimalt and Halifax. A Pacific and Atlantic march would be an interesting proposition, with something else for the Naval Reserve, or a line somewhere mid-country.

It's a great term, and honestly a great set of life habits. No one wants a housemate that wrecks the joint, doesn't get another TP roll when it's down to the last two tickets, etc etc. But even if you live on your own, cleaning as you go and doing things incrementally makes life so much easier.

The downside is when that is your expectation as the norm, you may be filled with rage if an in law 'visits' for years and lives off you like a parasite while not doing basic headiquette like a feral monkey.

There's a story here...

What about our third coast?

I have a plan for that marchpast.

The marchpast for Maritime Forces Arctic (universally to be known as MARCTIC) will be Northwest Passage, by Stan Rogers.

It won’t be in the public domain until 2053, but it might take that long to actually establish the formation. As an interim solution, pay the man’s estate.

It would be awesome if they changed the name to the 'Erebus and Terror March' ;)

Fun fact, you aren't allowed to claim someone is a dependent adult, even if they are a long unemployed musician. The nice lady at CRA might laugh when you ask before she tells you that though. (I asked when I was on the phone for something else, not during an audit or anything after the fact).

But if every cloud has a silver lining, a divorce means the in laws will also leave.
